I got a 9" blank Mickey for christmas with the plan to have the characters sign it as I've seen done on here by someone else. Mickey said sorry but he couldn't do it and the cast member said they can't sign those. Well I have another plan now for it but just wondering if anyone else has run into this and FYI to anyone who was considering.

Maybe because people get the blanks signed then put it on ebay for a lot of money

Stupid ebayers kill it for all the rest of us. We also tried but ehhhh got denied. LOL. I told my girlfriend we will kidnap mickey and tickle him or her until they budge. lol. Seriously though by that point I'll have all of Anaheim PD on me so fast, i wouldn't even get a chance to tickle mickey. LOL. But then hopefully at that point they have Sheriff Goofy come out and take me to Disney Jail. I wonder if pluto's the watch dogg in there. lol.

It must be something new then, as when I was in Disney World this last Sept. 2009 I bought a white 9" blank one and had Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto sign mine. I was going to have more sign it, but I ran out of time and I was going to bring it back with me when we go to the parks again. But now it sounds like I will not be able to, which is a real bummer!
On a side note Mickey Mouse loved signing on himself! And Goofy signed upside down! LOL

Ok so I got mine signed in Disneyland, even though I guess they really weren't supposed to. This is what I did, you have to find characters that are not with cast members first, I got Alice and the Mad Hatter, then everyone after that signed without a problem, well except for Pooh and Tigger, the people back there said that even though I already had signatures, that I wasn't allowed to get it signed. here is the link to my post about it. http://vinylnation.net/forums/showthread.php?2748-Disneyland-Autographs

it really makes me sad that they won't let us have the characters sign the Blank Mickey..I think its such a great idea to have something different and unique signed then just the simple old autograph book..maybe one day that will change I hope

Question for the people around DLR, do they have the blank 9" out on display with signatures on it?
If so, I'd be pissed if I bought a blank to get signed and then told it wasnt allowed.

no they do not have any signed. and when I was getting them signed I had asked a couple CM's before hand to make sure that I wasn't gonna get like kicked out or anything for getting it signed lol and they seemed pretty clueless about it anyways so I say try again lol

I've never seen the blanks displayed around DLR with signatures on them. That seems to be something they've only done around WDW. Regardless of that, I think it's quite silly to refuse to sign these.

It is really stupid that DLR doesnt allow it

Plan A-Kidnap Mickey
Plan B- Become a disney cast member solely to learn how to sign like Mickey, and then quit and become a professional Mickey autographer
Plan C- Make friends with several Disney "characters" who afterwards will sign all of your vinylmations and friend's vinylmations in exchange for a mickey ice cream sandwich each.
Plan D- All of the above.
(ahem) anyway, hopefully as vinylmations become more popular, they will make a vinylmation solely for the purpose of autographs- it could be an open ended vinylmation thing, and I think it would be cool to have one that is specifically meant for this purpose.

Like maybe make a Vinlymation with more of a matte surface than the regular blanks, so that permanent ink would adhere nicely and dry quicker!

thinking about it, I'd be really neat for Disney to make blackboard paint effect on a vinyl and use semi-permanent liquid chalk pens to autograph, those things dry super quick and are only removable with a damp cloth. You'd just have to get it signed, not scuff it taking it in and out of the box and seal the chalk writing once you got it home.
Seems they really are missing out on a good thing here, I know it's been said before that they really should sell a Vinyl with a set of pens. They could include pens that they have tested and they are happy with characters using on the vinyls that wont smudge too easily.
Now, I've done it, got myself wanting to have one signed.... I may have to go buy a black 9" blank and learn how to character sign with liquid chalks now haha

Here is the link of the previous thread that talked about Characters not signing blank vinyls, pretty much it was Disneyland that refused to sign them but now WDW

Wow this is good to know. I almost bought a 9" for our trip last month and have all the characters sign for my daughter. I'm really glad that I did get it after all. I would have been super upset, if they told me that it couldn't be signed. I'm with all of you to develop a different kind of material to get the characters to sign.

Yes, we've had the discussion several times about characters in Disneyland not signing the 9" blanks but the characters in WDW not having any problem with it. I still have yet to hear anyone get a reasonable explanation as to why there is the discrepancy. You would think that this type of policy would be the same in both resorts...especially now that they're branding them both under the "Disney Parks" moniker.

No offense to anyone older than fifty in here or anyone's grandparents. IT'S THE OLD PEOPLE THAT HAVE RUINED DISNEYLAND AND TRY TO ENFORCE ALL THEIR RULES AND POLICIES. LOL. Since they can't get jobs anywhere else and the economies in a mess right now, and they don't want to lose their jobs, as well as scared of us young folks will take their jobs, they have literally ruined it and enforce all of DISNEYLAND's policies. THEY SUCK. I was in Disneyland a couple months back and it was probably the last holiday series box sealed. They had one box out with six of them. I told them i wanted the six plus some from the box. This very young lady that had no idea i guess of their so called strict policies, was literally opening the box for us taking off the plastic and this FREAKING OLD H-G comes jetting across the store and almost tackles me to take the box out of the girls hand, and started yelling at her like it was the end of the world "DON'T YOU KNOW OUR POLICIES WE HAVE TO OPEN THEM IN THE BACK, YOU CAN'T OPEN THEM UP HERE IN THE FRONT, ETC, ETC." made us feel embarrassed everyone in the store and getting off the ride started looking over and seeing what was going on. GEEZ LOU EEZ GRANDMA i was just trying to buy six freaking vinyls. Calm Down. LOL. So in my opinion its all the old people that enforce the rules and rat out the young ones. LOL. So everyone decides to follow the rules so they don't lose their job because there's probably some old h-g that'll say something. lol.

elcheosito i kind of agree with you about the whole enforcing the rules, but not all of em are like that. i was at DLR on friday and it was close to closing. It was me and 7 of my friends and we had a fast pass, but it only allowed 6 people to use it. (we got it because we waited over an hour at indian jones because of some break down or whatever). The CM who was at the front of the entrance said it was cool and let us in, then the older CM that collects the pass was like well it says and you're supposed to do this for 8 people. He was making it really diffult and then said ill let you go just this one time blah blah.

Actually I've dealt with "overzealous enforcers" who were young as well. I think it has nothing to do with age and everything to do with attitudes and personality.
Some people want to abuse power no matter how little they have. Some people have gotten in trouble with not following strict guidelines in the past and now feel they have to overcompensate for it. Or sometimes people are simply following the rules but aren't real polite about it.
I know I get bugged with Cast Members from time to time, but strict cast members never fall into one age group. The majority of cast members are nice, young and old
Anyway, if the not signing vinyls thing IS a disney policy, hopefully they'll change it soon!

Sorry disagree a friend of ours works at Disneyland and i asked her this yesterday, and she agreed with me. It's more than likely an older employee will enforce the rules inside the park and follow the strict policies. Yes your absolutely right has to do with attitude and personality, however that's when you ask them "Do you know where the bathroom is" or "What time is the firework" or "Anything about the vinyls" or just simply asking them a question in general, then yes it has to do with attitude and personality with any age group. However when it comes to enforcing their strict policies Seventy five percent of the old folks are mean and enforce the policies, where as twenty percent or so of young people are mean and enforce their policies. So i would take it from an employee at Disneyland that the older group makes it harder for everyone such as employees, visitors, etc.
Example we where at Disneyland yesterday. My gf, her sister, and her sister's husband. We went to pay for dinner and my gfs sister's husband wanted to treat us to dinner and wanted to pay. However he doesn't have a premium or anykind of pass. So that stupid old H*G freaking flipped out and was like that's not you on the Pass, and acting as if we were trying to scam Disneyland. Her Exact words were "Only the pass holder is allowed to use this pass and pay with it". I was literally right behind him and tried explaining to the lady that he was inviting us to dinner and her response was "He's still not the pass holder, so if you want you have to pay for dinner in order to get the discount. So now i had to pay for dinner and invite all of us. If you ask me that really sucks. Yes it was an old person. In the evening we went to eat in tomorrowland at the burger and fries place, and since i paid for dinner earlier my gf sister's husband was like lets try and see if i can invite us this time. So i said ok lets try, however, don't go to an old person they suck here. So we went to this young kid and he had no problem whatsoever letting him use my premium pass. However two lines over to us this family tried doing the same thing and they got an old person. She was like our policy is that the passholder is the one who needs to pay. So we laughed and walked away with our food. :) so yeah it is the old people there. Well at least that's what we've experienced at disneyland and what our friend also agrees with.
Are you in that group of old people http://vinylnation.net/forums/member.php?893-%5E_%5E lol.

I think tomorrow I may buy a 9" blank and see if I can get some autographs on it, or at least try and talk to them to see why they wont. I think an autographed vinly would be totally cool to have. It would be like the adult version of an autograph book, you know they arent REALLY the character but if you only got to go to disneyland like once in your lifetime it would be a totally cool momento of your trip you could put up next to the pictures you took or whatever. I personally have never seen one on ebay for sale or anyone try to use it for any purpose other then to just have it so It is very confusing why a CM would say sorry no.

I agree. It's not like Mickey is really mickey. I mean if it were really Walt himself signing it then yes i Understand the value or one or all the artist. But just the characters. Thats more a personal thing.
