I was disappointed to hear that the release was pushed back til March. I'm trying to be positive and think that this gives my wallet a break. So, I can spend more money in March.

I'm actually grateful these are being pushed back a bit. My bank account ABSOLUTELY needed a break after the last couple months! I'll have no complaints if we don't get any new series for another month! :D

me too. I dont mind when they push them back, it's when they announce a release date and then the VM dont show up on that date (aka, Cindy VM)
The way I look at it is, once they announce a release date, they should be released. If they think theres going to be an issue, DONT announce a release date.

These just dont appeal to me
Same here. There is four Park 4 I want and one happens to be a 9"/3" set. So thats going to be a good chunk of change.

None of these 9" are on my list.
Park 4 has 1 - 9" that is a must SyFy Drive In....and will probably have to beg, borrow and steal to get somebody to pick me up one.

I can live without it. Rather wait and be able to get a full case of park4

How much are they I haven't bought a 9 yet???. Do you think they will sale out fast
masonduo
02-09-2010, 08:37 AM
heres the pricing
9" $39.99
9"/3' $74.99
As for selling wise. I would assume D-street is going to get a limited run of figures. SO initially certain figures will sell out quickly there. But then Disneyland will probably get another shipment around the same time WDW gets their shipment in march. This is just a guess.

Any idea why the 9"/3" sets are so much? Normally a 9" sells for $39.99 and a 3" sells for $9.95. So we are paying an extra $25 just because its a set?? Any thoughts from anyone on this?
peppermint
02-09-2010, 05:46 PM
I think it's kinda expensive, but if the whole set is a LE of 400 say - then you are getting a 9 inch LE400 and a 3 inch of LE400.

LOL, well this subject has been a very hot topic in the past and has been talked about on the general form several times. Disney has been very awkward on 3" pricing see below
regular 3" = $9.99
Tin 3" = $12.95 (LE rumors of 3,00 with a nifty tin)
Marathon 3" = $14.95 (LE ?? cardboard box)
Cinderella 3"= $22.95 (LE 800 Nifty tin)
walle/eve 3" = $24.95 (LE 500 cardboard packaging)
In the past i thought the main reason for the 9"/3" combo pricing had a $25 increase because of the the low run of the 3" figure. I assume that they weren't reaching the minimum order quantity to hit the $10 to $15 price point. But since the wall-e /eve was released at $24.95 (roughly $12 each 3") and having an LE size 500. So now that $74.99 price point is absolutely mind blowing, but hey what can we do. We aren't going to stop buying them. So technically disney has found the perfect price point for this item.

The chasers do go for a little more though.

Yea another member posted his/her explanation as to why the the set costs so much. Basically, it's viewed as a chaser since the 3" is also goign to be a LE. There's not going to be that alot of them around so there is a "premium" attached to the 3". Also if you look at all the previous sets with the 3", it seems like those are the quickest to sell out.
Hope that helps.

Got some info on the new Urban 3 9" ones. They are all runs of 450 each, even birds on a wire. All of the 5 have stickers on them saying they are limited editions of 450 pieces so the birds on a wire has more then we thought. Also they do not come with buttons anymore I can see a card at the top of the box so it looks like they are coming with cards now instead.

Just got back from DLR. I got there at about 9:30 I think I was 25 or 26th in line(not many more showed up by the time I left about 11 ish) All the 9" were available they were limited with a wristband two per person. The only issue was the 9"/3" set. My understanding is there were only 24 boxes so cm gave out gold wristbands to the first 12 people in line I don't think they will get until 1 this afternoon for some reason. Bottom line unless looking for the set the rest there should be plenty of. I picked up one of each except for the overall guy(he cute) I got 2.

We didn't get buttons with Park #3 either, so that is nothing new. When you say "cards" are they different than the normal artist cards (that also come with the 3") or is it something different. When I had asked about the buttons disappearing I was told they were considering adding something new in their place, so I'm wondering if there is a new card or something.

Well i havent opened any of the boxes yet but it looks like a normal sized aritst card on top of the box right on the plastic that holds the vinyl in place inside the box, if that makes sense lol. I was unaware that park 3 didnt come with buttons since ive never really seen any 9" ers in person other then the tiki mouse which has that big ol badge button in the front lol. whats funny is i can see through the clear plastic there is a slit in the cardboard where a button probably would have gone if it came with one. Also thought it was weird that they changed the edition size to all being 450. Have they done that before as well?
We were also told by the manager guy there who seemed to be pretty much in charge that they will be selling only at D-Street today but whatever doesnt sell out today will be distributed around the park. He also said that with the next limited edirion release they may do that email lottery thing where you put in your info and you get a chance to get a wrist band to wait in line for the figures, which i totally disagree with personally but thats what they might be doing for the next release.

When I was there around 1, I too saw that there were lots of all but the Monster set. I got there this morning around 8:30 and was too late for the yellow wristband that guaranteed you a Monster set. The CM said that if I came back at 1 there might be a chance of getting a Monster set. So, I went back and was lucky enough to get a couple. All in all, I thought the wrristband process worked really well.

I was in Disneyland Paris on thursday.
They had recieved the Urban 3 9" but they were stocked in the back of the store and they couldn't sell them for the moment.
The cast member was really nice and asked me if i wanted to see them, and he finally told me that if I wanted to buy one he could make an exception regarding the release date.
Vinylmations are not as popular in France as they are in WDW and DL, so i think it's maybe a bit easier to get opportunities like that?
I ended up buying the birds on wire one. I just love the design.
Apparently, they will all be available next monday in Paris.

I agree 1000%. If real Vinylmation fans like me are willing to wait for long hours for releases, why should we have to take a chance with a lottery. I hope the Vinylmation people are listening. I too am wondering why they changed the Bird on a wire from a limrt of 300 to 450.

They also changed the Monster set from LE of 600 down to LE of 450. I kind of like having different edition sizes so the collection has a bit of variety within it. I was excited about Birds on a Wire being a LE of 300. I wonder if the edition size change was part of what caused the delay??

No. Every piece's edition size was changed. Previously all of them were limited to 400 except Birds and Snow Monster.
I'm surprised they raised the edition sizes on these, given that the Urban 2 9"ers didn't exactly set the world on fire. It makes no sense to me that Disney limits MUCH MUCH more popular 9" Park pieces to 400, then makes 450 of the less popular Urban 9"ers.
Oh well, I got my Birds on a Wire, which is all I wanted. Thank you EvilJimmy!!!

Regarding the wristband distribution and why they would want to change it, the answer can be found from pins. With popular releases, folks would start lining up at all hours of the morning, or overnight. Understandably, Disney doesn't want people camping out overnight alone on property as they would be liable for any injuries. Because of this, they wouldn't allow folks to line up more than a few hours before opening nor park in the parking decks, but folks were so anticipating getting a LE1000 pin they caused traffic problems around the park then created chaos on the way to line up. The method to fix this is an online RSP, where folks register to be selected as able to purchase the item if they show up that morning before a certain time, like 1PM. We'll see if VinylMation releases get this treatment. It seems Wall-e could have used it.

They probably made the 9"/3" set a smaller edition size because its not as popular as the other figures and they don't want to have th $75 just sitting on the shelves.

I would agree that while yesterday worked really well it's nothing compared to when a really sought after piece comes out, like the 9" park 4 series or 9" urban 4 series. So I can see them wanting to do something to stop people from coming over night or what have you. I'd say that Disney knows this will happen but I don't think they do, when we were talking to Ronn who is the guy handling all limited edition releases in Disneyland he had no clue what else is even coming out. I believe that Disney got so much feedback about how it's so unfair that the people who waited longer and were in the front of the line got what they wanted that Disney is going to try to make it fair so anyone can get a limited release which is just ridiculous if you can't get there as early as possible that sucks for you but it shouldn't penolize collectors who can by making it some kind of lottery that people will EASILY find a way to manipulate to thier favor. if you can't be there when things come out you may have to buy on eBay, I know it sucks but we've all had to do it sooner or later.

Hey so my friend went to D-Street today and she said they still had all of them for sale except she didn't see the 9"/3" Monsters.
They sold out the 9"/3" on Friday. They handed out 12? wristbands and if you got there after those wristbands you could buy the other Vinyls, but had to come back at 1 for a chance at the Monster set. I went back and was able to buy 2 of the Monster set. But, now they are completely sold out of it - they have lots of the others. Probably at least 20 of each if I had to guess. Don't hold me to it, I'm bad at estimating.

They have to have more that just didn't go out that day. I can't imagine that they only had 24 out of 450 for all of Disneyland. They must not have either gotten them all in or sent many out of their warehouse for the release day.

Here goes. I'm very disappointed with the workmanship of the combo set. The paint was not apply evenly and you can still streaks of brush strokes not completely smooth out. Seems also that a different type of paint was used at certain area (certain spot has shiner finish than others). Wondering if other members that has the combo set can verify this.

Interesting to hear. I noticed that when I saw the samples recently, but thought it was something that would be corrected in time for the release.
