Nope! Vujacic is a crying baby! Sorry, like the Lakers, but I like the Clippers better! It is always more exciting to see them win (because they rarely do!) :).

Haha Vujacic better clean it up or he'll be traded like that! I'm a Clippers fan too, I anticipate that they'll have a better season than last year with Blake Griffin.

I agree, Kobe was robbed. But honestly I think the writer went off just straight statistics...Wade did have more PPG, but did not ever consider what Kobe does for the team as a whole...

I don't know. I think it is going to be very tough for them this year. Boston is still looking strong, and Miami is going to be very tough by the end of the season because Wade and James need to learn how to share the ball with each other. I think an undefeated record this early in the season is completely irrelevant because other teams could have been playing harder teams or easier teams (such as Miami's first game).

Bynum for Melo. Would you do it?
andycool
02-08-2011, 05:50 PM
I would. Tired of injury prone Andrew Bynum. Melo would add some much needed spark to the Lakers.
although bynum is our defensive enforcer and guards the rim beautifully unlike pau, i'm not completely opposed to this trade. i mean how often can you get a superstar of melo's caliber. . what he would bring our team on the offensive end would be amazing. length and defense would get cut but boy lakers would be dangerous with melo, i'm on the fence on this one, probably like 60-40 in favor of 'melo. if mitch makes this happen, crown him exec of the yr please.

When I read this thread, it reminded me of lakersnation.com. I'm guessing whoever created the site is a follower? As far as Bynum for Melo, I would be hesitant since the teams rebounding numbers will probably fall pretty dramatically.

No Bynum = no post presence and offense and defense in the post. Pau can't do it by himself, and even with LO at the 5 there wouldn't be a presence in the post. Melo is a scorer, but last time I checked, Kobe was still going to be on the team as well. Don't forget that the Lakers get bullied by the Celtics time and time again. Size matters, you know. Don't get me wrong, I've also been sick of Bynum's unreliability.
BOTTOM LINE:
If the Lakers trade Bynum for Melo, the Lakers are NOT going to the NBA Finals.
I am not in favor of this trade. It sounds good on paper (Fish, Bryant, Melo, LO, Pau as the starters. GEEZ), but big picture... not so great. Sure the Lakers could always dump Pau somewhere and pick up Dwight in 2012...
I'm in favor of a trade that doesn't involve Bynum...for now

No way the Lakers are going to be champs this year with or without Melo. Boston who is old has too much depth for the Lakers to beat them.
drudawg
02-09-2011, 12:16 PM
Looks like Bynum is staying. As much as adding Melo would be awesome on paper (especially with the way Artest is playing), we need Bynum's length and size vs. Boston. Ther'es no way of getting around it, even if he's injury prone and inconsistent.
Now if we don't win it all this year, then I see Lakers making major moves in the off season, especially with Phi Jax retiring (no more tri-offense).

That's only if Boston can stay healthy. I think a healthy Lakers vs. healthy Boston, the Lakers will win in a 7 game series.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/rumors/post/Lakers-not-moving-Bynum-;_ylt=AjNmhL5PnqBgCkjYGAJ_53W8vLYF?urn=nba-318884
I think they're going to make some major moves in the off season even if they win it all. I think Ron will be moved, same with Shannon brown. Blake has been subpar as well
melo gives the lakers a longer window for contending for titles. like someone said, "the ideal of Bynum is not the reality of Bynum"
we'd lose power + toughness without bynum, but the spacing for melo/odom/pau frontcourt would be there. but i agree against bos, i'm not so sure how we'd fair without bynum. mia i feel more comfortable with melo.
overall; i just prefer to get melo in this case. we are talking about CARMELO ANTHONY, a superstar in his own right. amazing player and an opportunity like this doesn't come around often at all. drew's health is always a question mark.
EDIT: lakers offered ron ron for stephen jax or gerald wallace earlier. . man if we got wallace for artest; WOW!

02-10-2011, 10:57 AM

I found it strange that the Lakers didn't pound the ball down to Drew so much. Their size is what's winning them these last 8 in a row.. Kobe's hot hand sometimes back fires because no one else gets involved.. Poor execution in the 4th.
The Heat were in desperate need of a win.... and well Lakers can't stay perfect..
Much better game than the X-mas massacre.
I'm going to go cry now...

i actually cried with tears after i turned it off. for all that mia was going to come out and play their arses off i wish the lakers would've brought it 10x more to avenge the xmas day embarrassment and show we're here to play. it was evident in the first half they were not focused at all, lakers are known to let scrubs become stars(chalmers in the first), then bosh of all ppl lights us up all night.
gasol reverted to gasoft and i thought the latter moments of the third were key as gasol had like 3 straight turnovers and laker passing was just idiotic.
kobe shot some dumb shots esp the 30 foot heave down 4, with 24+ secs remaining in regulation.
bigs were scared of wade for some reason
odom and gasol didn't come to play defensively.
i miss prime vintage kobe who went to the rack and dunked at will.

The lakers played sloppy ball tonight...I'm no lakers fan (I'm a fan of the other team that plays at Staples center), but I do root for any team that plays miami...
Those three straight turnovers made me mad as well...these guys are supposed to be professionals...and seriously it didn't seem like they cared. I was also mad that mike miller scored 12 points, I would have thought the bench would bring more.
Bynum should have been a major factor in this game, but it didn't look like he showed up.
You know what's worse than losing to Miami tonight? Realizing that the lakers gave them the win to clinch a playoff spot... I hope boston and chicago rough em up

andrew BYNUM playing like a grown man has been the difference for us!

It was a nice victory over orlando yesterday. I still say that they shouldn't have traded for jRich, Arenas and Turkoglu...

All I can say is LAKERS FTW!!! KOBE FTW!!! 3PEAT on the way...AGAIN!!!
haha yeah they're on a roll right now since the ASG, losing only 1 since then.
kobe's nagging injuries(ankle, neck, fingers) have been apparent but he still continues to show he's not human and just spew out venom
the lakers are starting to take things a little more seriously and finally wanting to win again
bynum out 2 games was whack but he'll be back tomorrow, i hope the suspension doesn't prevent him from beasting like he has post-ASG. we need that andrew again and again if we want to advance deep into the postseason.
only cons: PUKE walton. . what was mitch thinking giving him a 6 year deal in '07?? :look:   and wishing pau could defend our basket like bynum does(yeah pipe dream), and stop losing rebs so easily and just grab them with two hands.
everyone knows puke has been bad, REAL BAD. but that airball 20 footer against phx WIDE-OPEN just put me over the edge, completely unacceptable. how is he on this coveted lakers team?
i seriously think if he wasn't on the lakers, he wouldn't even be playing in the nba. . he must have some real serious dirt on laker upper management

On the bright side for you guys, I'm pretty sure the Celtics handed you the rings by trading Perkins.

except the C's passed the torch to Chicago... I really think Chicago is getting better and better with each game, they really pose a threat from the East.

I'm loving where this thread is at right now. The C's are great to trade Perkins, now they're like jello down low.
I'm still not too quick to pass up the Spurs/Lakers Western Finals matchup, that's going to be a pain, especially with Duncan just chilling this whole season. Injured right now, yeah, but he hasn't even played real basketball this whole season. They're on cruise control.
I'm interested to see how Chicago / Celtics / Miami plays out. Sad to admit that Miami is 2-0 against the Lakers this season, and they were playing putrid basketball both times. The C's are totally manageable now, but Chicago... Oh boy, Derrick Rose is going to score 80 on Derek Fisher. x_X

Too true...Have you seen Rose's crossover? Most deadly in the game...
I think Boston's done. Losing to the Pacers...really? I know Rondo is "injured" but even before that he was playing like crap after Perk was traded.
I hope the Lakers take one seed in the West, San Antonio can afford it.

Ugh, typical Laker fashion. Losing game 1 and making things harder for themselves.
My God. . the LAKERS are set to hire MIKE BROWN omg omg omg NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :cry::cry::cry::cry: :doh: :nono::nono::nono: :-X:-X :tap::eek::puke:
so much for adelman or jvg. .
We had a world class chef preparing our meals. . Now we have a random guy who doesn't know how to scramble an egg trying to feed us.

Who did you want to be the next coach? It's hard to replace a phil jackson... I wanted Adelman, but not JVG. I think that if the Lakers sign Brown, they'll be saving money, money they could spend on..................................dwight! (even though they're already well over the cap)

i wanted jvg or adelman big time, although i think jvg was content with his announcing and he's damn funny on tv. but man he doesn't beat around the bush and tells things like it is and would've preached defense as well. adelman could've maximized our offense and he's no joke either.
i just feel mike brown is a joke, same with mike dunleavy. he did have success in clev with lbj but we're getting lbj's sloppy seconds and i hope brown knows what he's doing offensively and none of that kobe iso get out of his way stuff.
i feel like he kisses too much arse and would be afraid to rip into the players. also NOW FOR SURE, fisher will be back starting again bc you know mike brown cannot say no to fish :cry:
tbh, i'm slowly starting to accept it li'l by li'l, but i wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a disaster.
totally wanted dr buss to send the reigns to jeanie, but we are witnessing a shift in power as jim buss takes full control, he even just fired ronnie lester! jim seems like the kind of guy who will nvr let go of his pet project bynum, do anything to cut corners and thinks he knows what's best for the franchise without consulting others.
with the several asst coach names being thrown out as possibilities for the staff, that eases my mind as well.
idk, maybe it's just how his mouth is overly wide, and just sits there real big and open when he talks, kind of annoying. but if it's a jaw/mouth prob, then sry for being messed up lol
plus the players said they were shocked by the hiring and heard of the news the way us fans did. .
doubt kobe is impressed. mike brown said he has been texting kobe, texting? come on now, if kobe was satisfied with the hire i'm sure he would've picked up the phone and talked instead
only time will tell, /rant.

I thought jeanie should've taken over too. Jim doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing...
I didn't want JVG or Adelman. Maybe we didn't want Adelman because of the bad history of the Lakers clobbering his teams ( Kings/Rockets??). I also think his mouth is very wide and he shows his teeth a lot. I think defensively, he'll boost the lakers, because lets be honest, the Lakers can score points whenever they want. Defensively though, they need to get it. I predict with Brown as coach, Kobe will be playing a lot more, and putting up 30 a game. Might not be a great idea though. Maybe kobe will become a player/coach
As for Fish, i think unless LA can land a legitimate point guard (no, not steve blake), I don't see a problem with having Fish as a starter.

i agree with everything you said except the last part lol. fisher has downright been holding this team back. imagine if we had a decent pg who could penetrate, ALWAYS make their layups and actually stay in front of their man and play defense? don't get me wrong i love fish for all he has done for LA, clutch shots in the playoffs and all
but he's 36 or so now, he's just too slow and his body won't do it anymore. he'll take charges for you for sure, great locker room and leader guy. but not starting pg material for the LA Lakers and hasn't been for several years now, only was bc phil was at the helm. . only my opinion of course.

I seriously laughed when I read that becuase its so true! I think LA needs a true point guard...and has been overdue for one for quite some time
updated laker rumors/facts:
-brian shaw will soon be interviewed by frank vogel for the indy asst coach position
-lakers willing to offer bynum/odom for DH
-lamar sent a very sexual text msg to a teammate
-lakers looking for a backup 5 and backcourt depth
in other news:

couldn't agree with you more... d-fish will be missed. as far as walton and kapono go, this is some serious good news. they are freeing up some good money from their books for a push at a solid small forward this off season.

I"m not a Magic fan but I do live near Orlando and I'm glad all that drama baby "I said this, no I said this" stuff is all over. I just hope Bazaro, I changed his "Superman" name to the EviL Superman, will decide to stay in Lakers and not hear another drama baby "I said this, no I said this" stuff all over again.
