So food for thought. My buddy stuck around and talked to Quynh Kimball for a while at the Artist Signing event and Quynh told him that they are finished up to Series 11 for both Park and Urban.

Holy moly this is going to suck my wallets dry. So if they are done up to then, I wonder if there will be more of these series after 11.

Wow...11 of each? I would be OK with this if they released one of each...MAYBE two of each per year. But, sadly, I don't think that's going to be the case and it's going to seriously limit which figures I can buy. :shrurg:

They have to work months ahead of themselves in order to get them made in time to be released. It is roughly a 12 to 18 month window they need to get art approved, samples made and tweaked and then finally approved, any packaging artwork as well, then the whole production time and then the shipping. It takes a lot of work and time to get a quality product made. As of now, it is just the proposed artwork they have done. All of it is subject to change once they start working on samples as some designs just may not turn out the way they wanted them too in a 3D format. It's exciting that they are working that far ahead, but again, things can change!:idea:

From what we heard at the event they would potentially only do up to Park 6 in the next year, so Parks 7-11 would be the years following. Park 6 would be about the same timeframe as Park 3 was, which would end 2010.

WHY do they insist on pushing these out so quickly?! I know it's to make money...but I think in the long run they could make even more by spreading the releases out. I think part of the problem with the slow movement of Park Series #2 and Urban Series #2 is because the gift shops are oversaturated with too many series at once.

I figured they were done with art work and not actual production. But it's nice to hear 11 series are coming around. I need more room....

even if its just the art work thats still crazy 11 series for urban and park. its good so it wont be too late to many changes on the later series if they feel they could make it look better or decide to change anything.

That's 264 figures alone in the Park & Urban series. Without factoring the 9" or 9"/3" sets. I started collecting these thinking it would be a more obtainable goal than collecting the Disney pins. Now it seems they're aiming for thousands of these things too!

Well at least you came early enough into the vinylmation collection to actually collect them all vs. coming into the pin trading NOW... lol

:yikes: They need to really slow down with all the releases

I say limit the number of Park and Urban series releases each year to 2 of each at most. Then you can offer a few more other series to fill in the gaps.

These are a lot more easily displayable than the pins, at least. :D

But who says you need to collect them ALL? Maybe you want just Park series, or just Urban series, or just your favorites? Being a completist is a curse, believe me. If you don't feel like you have to buy everything you'll enjoy collecting a lot more.

I dont really collect all of them (just the ones I like, which is still alot) but even with just the Park series...it's gonna get harder and harder to display. I dont have enough room to display them as it is.

May be they going to sell some of the extra one in the disneystore (not the online one).

If these figures are accurate and we will be seeing Park after Park after Park... Yikes!!! As is we've invested sooooo much in these vm's! Maybe the price should be lowered to $8.95 (every $ helps!) and the 9" to $29.95! (keep dreaming Claudia!!!)

I'm not worried about displaying them right now. I just want my checkbook to be able to keep up!

same here. My problem is I like so many of them, it's impossible to choose. Example: the 9" for park3...started out only wanting trash can...now i want magic shop & TT plus I just bought i <3 ny

I've set a few rules for myself regarding the 9" figures. No 9"/3" sets...even though I really like Test Track, I just can't justify spending $75 on the sets. Any 9" figures will be PARK related and pay homage to an attraction in a somewhat abstract way or I have to just absolutely LOVE the figures. So far, I just have E-Ticket and the Epcot symbols 9" figures. I will make an effort to get the Tiki Room figure from one of the upcoming sets but I think that's it right now. I'm wishing I had grabbed a 9" IASW figure when they were available...kicking myself now

Yea I try to stay away from the sets...but next park series, I have to get Sully/Boo.

I may or may not get TT...depends on if it's still around when I next.

Thankfully, I can trade for some other 9" since I still have a few extra park1 3".

:agree: Think they'll listen to us??? 11 series-think I'm going to have to give up on cases anyway. I'm already running out of room.

I like collecting the cases. It gives me a place to put the boxes into and then I can always put them away in storage.

my real focus is just on the park series than if there are any others i like ill collect them. there are way too many series coming out and releasing over the course of 1 year.

agree maybe even 2 parks and one urban one year and the next make it two urban and one park set. then fill in the gap with special sets.

how many months apart are you guys thinking each set should be released?

I can live with three Park releases and three Urban releases a year - it's all of these one-time sets like Clear and Cutesters and Muppets and Star Wars and Big Eyes that are just too much for any one person to deal with. Add the 9" (already stated above) AND the special editions they keep creating, and we are looking at something no one person can collect. I think that's what killed hardcore pin trading, and I hope it doesn't kill this great collectible.

Guess we are going to have to pick and choose and only get
what each one of us really likes. That's what will make our collections
unique at fun to look at. Otherwise it will just end up looking like a
department store in our living rooms/collection rooms.
