Discuss the new attraction here.

I've only been inside of it 1 time, and I really enjoyed it. The last 7-8 times I've been at DHS I just watch the finale show on the big screen outside, or just listen to from somewhere nearby. To me the quality of each day's contestants seems to get worse every time I visit the park.

Some days I'll see finales where I have a hard time figuring out who I'll vote for. Other days I see shows where I can't understand how someone that awful could have made it to the finale.
The attraction just opened and they are already having trouble getting enough people to audition. Did anyone NOT see that coming though?

Next thing you know, they'll be advertising in the DHS-area hotels. I think this will only last a year.

We saw a finale show in early May and it was a nice way to end our day at HS. The only part that irked me was the incredibly long wait before they let us in. You have to watch that video and yadda yadda and by the time it was over, I was annoyed. We were able to grab a front row seat though, and everyone who performed did really well surprisingly. The best news was the girl who I voted for, WON! I felt like I was really making someone's dream come true for a minute. It was fun, but IDK if I would see another show unless it was a scorcher and I just had to have some relief.

I went to see this over the weekend and I thought it was really good. Some members of my family loved this show (DHS not the TV version) and had to go back and see it again after for the finale.

Here is the big Finale show. When this first opened this area would be packed as people flopped down to watch on the big screen. There was hardly any walking room. Now, during the busy Summer, you'll find crowds like this. Why is it everybody but Disney knew this was a bad idea?

That space seems to be doomed. The Drew Carry show wasn't that good either.

The drew carey thing is in another space and is still there.

This show is suffering right now. Seems like it only does well when Idol is actually airing on TV.

If anyone is looking to audition you shouldn't have a problem. It's sad to say but they literally have to beg people to try out.

thats probably a good thing.
Yea, that whole building really could be turned into something better. While I'm sure the shows are cheaper to create (since that's what they keep seeming to put in that building) DHS could really use another ride IMO.
Altho the two times I've done the AI experience, I've enjoyed it, thankfully both times had people who could sing really well. Plus, I fangirl-ed out at the sight of the steady-cams :D

I actually enjoyed the AI show. However for the actual park itself I think a better fit would have been an updated Superstar Television show where guests would be picked out of the crowd and through the magic of Disney put into their favorite ABC shows. Guests could go to the Lost island or live nextdoor to one of the desparate housewives.
Obviously with AI though they went for a current popular phase that will get people into the park. To be honest I don't really think that anyone goes to Hollywood Studios specifically because of AI but at the least it takes crowds away from Toy Story Mania

Doesn't surprise me. We skip that whole section on every visit. I have never even been in the Drew Carry part. I think Disney can do better.

I'm listening to the WttM Podcast in my office right now, and they're playing some audio from the AIE pre-show. In the preshow they talk specifically about Paula Abdul. Anbody know if there are any plans to re-record that part of the preshow or you think they'll keep it in even though she's no longer there?

What do they say about her in the preshow?

They were just kind of describing the judges and talking about what each of them individually brings to the show. I think it was Secrest narrating it, and it was interlaced with some clips from the actual television show.

Did they have Kara at all? If so, I could see them just eliminating the clips from Paula. But the question is, "do you interview Ellen for her take?"

Yeah, I think they did have Kara. I guess they could always plug Ellen in....or use clips from Ellen's Energy thing. :look:

They should just get a clip of her dancing at the beginning of her talk show.

We saw the show when we were there in July. It was fun because it was blazing hot out, but also because the singers that day were really good. I was also really impressed with the set and the production, it seemed to be good quality, but unfortunately, I can also imagine the show going downhill if there aren't talented people willing to audition. I could never get up on stage in front of a bunch of strangers and sing, especially if I might run into them later in the parks!

I've seen it and think it was good, but wouldn't bring me to the park. Maybe it will for teenage girls that want to be singers? I think Disney is missing out on reality TV in the parks and AI was the wrong direction. For example, ABC should have a cooking show where the winner opens a restaurant somewhere on property. The show could be filmed on property and somehow guests could be the diners like Hell's Kitchen. A Big Brother/Survivor type show where guests can stop by and watch the action in person (a local radio station had mall survivor for a week in an empty storefront a few years ago and it was interesting to stop by and watch for a few minutes). Amazing Race where they race around WDW (kidding on that one, unless it was a kids show with kids racing, I guess).

I disagree. I think they had the right idea by transferring reality TV into an attraction and not actually putting a reality show in the parks. I would hate that as a guest. I think that Imagineering had the right idea...but terribly bad timing. Why didn't they jump in on this 3 or 4 seasons ago? I think Idol is definitely on the downswing of its popularity.

I think most reality tv is out (at least most of the big ones, AI, survivor, etc)
And I for one am so thankful for that because i got sick of reality tv about 4years ago.
now to just get rid of all the crime shows

True, I never understood the 12 different versions of CSI...isn't it practically the same show?
But we digress...

It really is. I cant even stand to watch any of the CSIs for more than 5mins. Same with Law&Order.
But yea back on topic!
um...AI...GO.....:look:
AI was amazing, I loved the huge stage and all the lighting. Disney did a great job of mocking the actual show!

I agree! Drew Carry was baddd and now so is AI. The stage is cool but I'm not gonna waste my day at the park to watch random people sing! I don't get it!

I'm not much of a reality show fan, especially AI. Hope Disney can see that many people do not care for the AI reality show and they put something more worthwhile in the space. Besides, WDW is for fantasy and dreaming and should help us get away from "reality" for awhile.

Well the space that AIE is in is a theatre, it always has been so they'd just make another show, not a ride.

Problem is, more people do care for AI. And I dont care for AI either, but it's a fun show to go to. It's a good thing to do to get out of the heat. And it is fantasy and dreaming. Dreaming of becoming famous.

AI did not replace who wants to win a millionaire, AI replaced the Drew Carey Soundstage and before that it was just Soundstage or something soudstage

:nono: You're right with the first part but not the second. The Drew Carey thing is still there (unfortunately) AIE is separate. The theatre has always been a theatre, I just dont remember anything being in it for the longest time. I know they used it seasonally for Star Wars Weekends though
