Hello,
Sorry of this is such newbie questions :bonk: I'm planning a first visit trip to WDW this December with a family of 6. Just wondering if anyone had been on Vacation Packages that include the hotel + dining plans + tickets deal, and if that is actually a good deal? We are thinking about the meal plan package that has 1 table service meal, 1 quick service meal, and 1 snack per person per day. We are going to be in the parks for 6 days.
Also does anyone know what hotel would be the most convenience in terms of location from the parks?
Thanks :)

Hi :) Congrats on your first Disney trip, and during Christmastime too! I really want to go during Christmas sometime, but I've only gone in the summer before :P
Both times when I went we were on Vacation packages. I went with my mom, so it was just the two of us. It's much more convenient, saves you a lot of hassle, and I feel you should definitely experience the Disney Hotels at least once. Personally we got the same dining plan you are talking about, and we ended up with tons of extra credits because the portions were quite larger than what we are used to. The food prices are all jacked up to raise the perceived value, so if you pay out of pocket you will likely end up spending a LOT more.
For convenience it all depends on what parks/areas you will frequent the most. Which resort level are you thinking?

Hi stephwsc :) thanks for the useful information! We are thinking Deluxe resort and Animal Kingdom sounds interesting to us... but I heard it is very far from the parks :(
Did you get the park tickets together in the Vacation package too?

When you get a minute check out this thread. There's a bunch of info :). http://vinylnation.net/forums/showthread.php?21869-Planning-a-wdw-trip-Lots-of-questions!&highlight=Planning
As for Animal Kingdom Lodge yes it is the furthest hotel from the parks except for Animal Kingdom. If you are renting a car honestly the distance isn't bad. If you're taking the buses then it will take a while to get back and forth. Honestly though it's such a wonderful hotel and there's nothing like it in my opinion.

We love staying in the Epcot resort area because you can walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

If you have a car, like crazybones27 mentioned, it probably isn't a big deal, but buses to AKL are not very frequent and AK itself is quite removed from everything else if location is important. But I'm sure the resort is excellent :)
In terms of the other deluxe resorts though, between the monorail and Epcot resorts I'd pick Epcot. It's more centralized and the ability to walk to the other resorts or even the parks is quite convenient. It is also very scenic and relaxing to make the walk (Y)

Since crazybones27 has pointed out the other thread (http://vinylnation.net/forums/showthread.php?21869-Planning-a-wdw-trip-Lots-of-questions!&highlight=Planning), I'll go ahead and close this one. Feel free to continue discussion there. :)
