I'm a little curious about Kim Possible. In the cartoon she was so thin but I'm afraid as to how she will translate to the new mold if she will look fat like Tinker Bell. I'm looking forward to Jiminy Cricket, Jose, Flower, Roger Rabbit and the chaser. I think the chaser will be very unique and cool.

If the chaser is true that is amazing. I was hoping we might get a vinyl for this particular figure.

I like Tink, but it's a little bit overkill when she's in Park 7 which is set to be out at the same time.... I wish they would have spaced them more. I wonder what they're going to do to make them different

The 9"ers are definite winners here. Mabye except for Humprhey because I'm not familiar with that cartoon. I'm upset about Kim Possible though. Not because fit female characters look odd in this series but because the animation series so far have all been characters from Animated Features, not television cartoons. I just think it's misplaced and I probably won't display her with the rest of the series.

You're probably right.

I also wonder why there'sa Roger Rabbit figure in here because didn't Disney lose the rights to him years ago? That's part of the reason why he's no longer in Spetro Magic and why Genie replaced him. I think it would be along the same lines as the questions with Toy Story and Potato Head, Slinky and those as well as Disney Afternoon with Gummi Bears

I only like about half of the characters in this series...Kim Possible should not be included in this series. She is a Disney Channel cartoon, maybe they should've done a Disney Channel cartoon series and include shows like Kim Possible, Fish Hooks, Phineas and Ferb, and the like. Also John Henry, Tinker Bell, the Headless Horseman, and Tink are the ones I am least excited for. Sebastian is a must and the Maleficient dragon with Prince Philip will be epic I am sure! Also Gepetto will look great with my 3" Pinocchio. I would've preferred Roger Rabbit as a 3" but oh well beggars can't be choosers.

Except, you known better, because the people making it are artists and not just pasting old photos onto a figure. Oh, and the entire figure would be the blue of the ears, I just didn't paint it that because I don't have Photoshop. And Rufus would be painted a bit better, a bit farther down into the body and higher up into the ears. And maybe Draken and what's her face, the green one, on the back.

no, Disney still has the rights to Roger Rabbit, they just have to pay 50% of all his sales and imagery to Steven Spielberg

9" Maleficent Dragon has a chance to be amazing, but also an equal chance to be terrible. If it's designed by one of the creative designers like Oscar Mendez and does something interesting with the dragon shape, it will be great. If someone like Thomas Scott does it and just stretches her out onto the mickey shape so that she's just fat and standing upright, it will be awful. I'm praying it's also not on the new 9" mold.

John Henry is going to be the trade box fodder of this series for many people.

Yeah, this sequel series isn't as interesting as the first. Seeing the figures on display at the Florida Project yesterday, Jose, maybe Sebastian or John Henry, and Jiminy (dang it, now I have to hope the A2 combo topper sets aren't a sell-out at the parks), have better designs & figures I'm interested in. Though Flower, Dopey and Chicken Little are well translated to the figure too... Pudgy KP, not so much.

But really, two pudgy Tinker Bells from two series being released at the same time? Does the DDG expect her to be a HTF figure? It is unusual.

Well they changed molds recently and it's much smoother and has less sculpted features compared to the original (nose, pants, and buttons are now gone). The feet can now come off for some reason too.

This picture shows the difference. Figment is "old mold", New York is "new mold".

Less sculpted, no lines, flatter face, removable feet, more sculpted "accessory hand", etc. There's a thread about it if someone could link it (running out of computer time here ). The thread is called "Modified Mold for 3 inch" or something like that.

For sure!!!

Chaser, sounds awesome!!!!

Tink, only if I prefer it over Park 7.

Chicken Little, Kim Possible(odd choice) and John Henry do not interest me whatsoever.

Gepetto, only interested in 3"

Roger Rabbit 9"…I REALLY want, however, not without Jessica. Should have been a 9/3 combo with Roger being the 3".

Humphrey/Ranger…no need for a 9", but would have got them both if in 3"

Maleficent Dragon + Phillip 9"/3"…very interested to see this, maybe.

Overall, not bad some really good ones, could be better though. Not the most exciting.

WHy do you say that? Urban are usually things that have NOTHING to do with the parks.... with the exception of: U2 Ice Cream, U5 Chaser and Paint Drip (as it's actually Mickey) and Park series have to do with things that are actually in the parks. I think the Headless Horseman works perfectly for an Animation series. He wouldn't work anywhere else. Besides the Halloween Parade, the Headless Horseman is nowhere in any Disney park. It makes no sense to put him in a Park or Urban series

I see the animated series as characters that represent disney animation, the headless horseman is more an iconic character in history and pop culture and transcends disney animation. It's not if disney made it their own like they did robin hood. Characters such as the headless horseman and john henry are more iconic characters in pop culture and history rather than disney animation, and best serve in series that reflects that like in the urban series.

How does he represent pop culture? I know that the Urban series is a sort of "pop culture" representation but Urban series is not the place for any type of Disney character. So then if we're going by what you're thought process is, then Disney should have put a Little Mermaid character in an Urban series because it started the new wave of amazing Disney movies back in the early 90's. Or Beauty and the Beast because it was the first animated picture to be nominated for Best Picture. I also think the reason why Disney is making the Animation series is because the characters don't have a place in the Park series or their own movie series (i.e Lion King, Alice). They could work in Park but I think they want to do that sparringly because there are so many characters roaming the parks they want to leave the "Park Series" for attractions or park icons like Cinderella Castle or Spaceship Earth

The headless horseman is totally a figure of pop culture he is always referenced in movies, television and even urban folklore, before disney animation. Many don't even associate Disney with the headless horseman. While beauty and the beast and little mermaid go hand in hand with disney, when you think of either of those two you think disney first. Disney did a straight forward adaptation of sleepy hollow a classic story on its own, they did nothing to separate disney's version with the classic, while with beauty and the beast disney put their own spin on it with unique characters and addition to they story making it a totally different entity than that of the classic story. You can also put him in the park series, as well as villains.

Yes, but they would be using the animal version of robin hood, where robin hood is portrayed by a fox, which is unique to disney animation.

How exciting :) Although I must say I prefer Animation 1. I have series 1 but doubt I will bother with this series. Here's my thoughts incase anyones bothered...!

• Tigger - Love this!

• Fantasia 2000 Donald (Plus variant) - I think this should have been another Fantasia character, I've already seen too many similar Donald vinyls.

• Tinker Bell - Like this but aren't there already 2 other Tinkerbell vinyls out there!?

• Dopey - Love this!

• Kim Possible - Not too keen on this at all.

• Sebastian - Love this!

• Baloo - Love this!

• Flower - Love this!

• Chicken Little - Quite like this...

• Jose (with hat attachment) - Love the look of this, although I have to admit I'm not very familiar with the character.

• John Henry (Shirtless variant) - No like.

• Headless Horseman (Chaser) - Sounds awesome but definitely shouldn't be an ANIMATION chaser in my honest opinion.

• Jiminy Cricket (Combo Topper) - Love this and only wish it was part of the main set - I don't think we get toppers in the UK either :(

Because that's what every vinyls in the first series was and every other figure in this series. It's what set it apart from the Disney afternoon series, have a laugh, etc. Otherwise I feel like there is no theme, its just anything a Disney animator has drawn. I guess I'm just being picky

I could see her in a Park series, given her Epcot missions. I like that she's in there, but lets just hope this doesn't open the door to them adding in vinyls for that silly "fish hooks" show that's on now...

Yeah I think that's to new, but I can see if they put Phineas and Ferb in the animation. This is where these shows would make sense to me. I don't think I'd like Kim to be in the park series. I can see them changing the name later on when her fan base dies down. :)

:pet: I think Kim Possible is fine with being in the series. It is an animation cartoon after all. I wouldn't mind seeing other cartoons like this pop up in the animation series also(don't ask for examples). Just stop and think for a second if they wanted to do a Kim Possible vinyl what series would it fit in? Animation is the only one that makes sense. Plus since Kim Possible is big with kids now it only makes sense to put her in a series now then later. :)

There was a comment on making a Disney TV series in the "Disney Afternoon" thread, and that would be perfect for Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb, etc. I don't mind Kim Possible as a show, and while I don't like Phineas and Ferb (no kids), I get that it's a popular show; I just think it's odd to include them in what has been solidified as a full-length movie animation series. Even all the 9" in Animation 1 fit this theme. I am seeing now that I'm in the minority on this

I would agree with you that Animation series was solidified as only movies, but we've only had one series so far. We can't really say it's solidified that way after only one series :). They may have used the figures in series one to appeal to people and get them in to the series. Now that they have our attention they can move on to their plans and such :).

I guess I felt that 19 figures all in full-length movies (23 if you count variants) was enough to solidify the theme of the series, but to each his/her own! I definitely get why they put her in and I'm not going to write any strongly worded letters or anything, but personally, I just feel like she doesn't fit

I will do something that may seem crazy, but I will defend Kim Possible being in the set. Do I like the figure, not entirely. But I can see where they were coming from including it.
The big reason why I do think she can fit can be found in the Vinyl series itself. A big complaint I've read is that "she was never in an Disney Animated Film." Okay fair enough, but what about Roger Rabbit, Pete and Elliot and John Henry. Roger Rabbit, while being in an animated film, wasn't done by Disney. It was done by Touchstone and even included Warner Brothers character. Pete isn't even an animated character and he made it in a 9"/3" combo pack. And his movie isn't even in the "Disney Animated Studios" release chronology. Disney movie yes, but not in the chronology which everyone was nit-picking about. And John Henry was based off an animated short that was eventually released on DVD as a compilation pack in vein of Melody Time or Make Music Mine. But unlike those, this was also not in the chronology.
So while I'm not a fan of the Kim Possible figure, it does make sense. If they can release figures that aren't even animated characters in an animation set, why not some television characters?

mickiethepumpkin
10-02-2011, 10:55 PM
For me when I said it didn't make sense because she's not from a Disney Animated Film I didn't even mean that it had to be Disney. I was just trying to say, Kim P. stuck out as the more obvious one that's not really apart of Animation Feature Films. The older characters work because the term was much more loosely defined several decades ago. Roger Rabbit may not have technically been done by Disney Animation Studios, but they do have the marketing rights now and a lot of people consider it as a staple in animation films.

John Henry will definitely be the next trade box flooder, but I'll definitely keep his hammer if I get a repeat of him.

Me too. I liked it at first, but of the ones we've seen in actual form, I only like Jiminy and Jose. I'll have to see tigger and chicken little in vinyl form to decide on them, and of course the chaser sounds amazing. So I'll go for a max of 5 with the combo topper. The rest just aren't for me

Agreed on Jose and maybe even Sebastian too, just for the claws. So that would be Jiminy, Jose, Sebastian and whatever the chaser may be. Well, unless it's underwhelming or fugly, then I'd choose Donald.

Agreed. Animation 1 was okay, but a lot of the characters didn't really speak to me. Jose Carioca and John Henry alone are enough to get me interested in Animation 2, and it's great to see characters like Flower, Tigger, and Chicken Little getting the 3" treatment. Add in what sounds like an awesome chaser, and this series is pretty exciting.

I think that Series 1 had too many "expected" designs. Series 2 gets away from that in a good way, and gives us some pleasantly suprising Characters.

:pout: I wish all 3 Caballeros were in this series also, but it just makes us pine for the next set to see if they will indulge our desire to complete the trio.

Why the dissapointment? I think this set is better than the first.

I liked the first one and bought a case! The chaser was eh to me, but I liked all the characters. This set I am only interested in the chaser, Flower and Tink. Not enough for me to buy any.

Tigger -- not a Winnie The Pooh fan. (I know, sacrilege)
Donald -- cute
Tink -- cute
Dopey -- not my favorite but I don't mind it
Kim Possible -- never seen the show, not into the character at all
Sebastian -- I LOVE collecting The Little Mermaid stuff and this is such a disappointing design to me. Looks horrible! Ugh!
Baloo -- eh
Flower -- cute
Chicken Little -- UGH don't like the character, no attachment to it
3 Caballeros -- cute but eh
John Henry -- no, also sort of looks like Lando (NOT bc he's black but outfit design, etc)
Love the chaser.

Why the dissapointment? I think this set is better than the first.

For me personally it's either that the characters don't excite me or the designs are mediocre and don't do the characters justice. Jose and the chaser are the only ones that interest me. Most of the others looks stretched and fat or are just characters I don't care about at all. There are some that are decent designs like Tigger and Flower, but they're predictable and don't blow me away. To me, it's a totally forgettable set. There's just nothing exciting about the designs of any of the figures except Jose with the hat and the stars in the ears.

It's just a generic middle-of-the-road C-grade vinylmation series. It doesn't suck, but it's not outstanding in any way. I love being surprised by a cool design like the brain-scan thing on the back of the new Runaway Brain Mickey, or the Donald in the Tuba in park 7, or even the fish in the ears of Lew Zealand. There's nothing like that in this series. I just think, "yep, that exactly what a generic average Tigger vinylmation would look like."

They could do something more creative like give him an interesting facial expression or paint his body smaller like the Aqua Duck Donald and have him springing on his tail. That would have given it a "wow factor". As it is, it's just pretty mediocre and boring. I guess I've been spoiled by a bunch of recent really creative designs that this series just seems so repetitive and dull.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who are will love Tigger, but someone was asking why some people are disappointed and my personal disappointment comes from the fact that I think none of the designs are inspired except for 1 or 2. There have been so many series that do blow me away lately like Robots, Lion King, Villains 2, and Park 7, that a "just average" series is disappointing personally.

They should do a Pooh series, there's enough characters to flesh out a whole series and the original Pooh and Piglet could be done so much better. I'd love to get an Owl.

Does Jiminy Cricket not inckude his Umbrella? :yikes:

If so, thats just as bad as Hook without a Hook or Hat and Scrooge without his Cane or a Carl without his Tennis Ball Walker.

And still not interested in a 9" Roger Rabbit, its too bad they didn't do a 9" Jessica with a 3" Roger, would have been PERFECT!!!

So far, I only want:

• Dopey
• Sebastian
• Flower
• Jose (with hat attachment)
• Headless Horseman (Chaser)
• Jiminy Cricket (Combo Topper)
• Maleficent Dragon + Phillip 9”/3

The others are either too boring of a design or do not interest me. Overall not at all a very creative series here. Like Tigger, I'm sure we will get a better one eventually. Even Flower is a little boring for me, so I dunno. Flower should have had some I dunno, flowers in there somewhere, be it the ears or what not. I've been looking for any pictures of Tink besides the concept art but can't find any... does anyone know if pictures of her have been released at all?

I don't think they've shown her yet. She doesn't seem to have been on display at TFP.

I really want Sebastian. Hopefully he looks better in person than the pics I have seen.

I'm getting more and more excited about this series! I might have to bug Crabby Duck to split a tray with me

Looking forward to series 2.
Was not a big fan of the Chasers in Series 1.
What is everyone's thoughts on that?

I wasn't a fan of the chaser from Animation 1. It seemed like the large quantity of chaser variants made headlines for the series. From the sounds of it, this chaser is quite promising!

definitely looking forward to this set, too...i like the character choices and details a lot better than A1...i'm leaving WED to head to WDW for 8 days, and kind of disappointed that they're (apparently) not going to be released prior to us coming home. i plan to buy a case of P7 while down there, and hope to trade my extra set for someone's extra A2 set...here's hoping!
