Here's more information about Pottermore that was posted in other threads thanks to HitchHikingGhostFangirl.

Once you gain access, you'll start out in Diagon Alley to get a wand. There are 33k different combos. You get galleons to buy your things. Get sorted. And it's nothing like any of the online tests. There is NO way to know what answer goes with what house. Some questions will have 2,4,6 answers. And just because there are 4 answers doesn't mean that there is one answer for each house.

Along the way you'll get more backstory about some of the characters. How Petunia and Vernon met, How McGonagall fell in love with a muggle. Once you're sorted into a house, you'll get more info about the house itself and the people in it. Hufflepuff with get the most new information with Gryffindor getting the least.

There will be some games, such a potions and dueling. When the site starts out you start out with Sorcerer's Stone. Sometime next year they'll add in content for Chamber of Secret. I think they said they're trying for a 9 month time frame between books.

There will be house points that you get for the games and such. And a House cup at the end of the "year" aka before the next book comes out.

Also the whole series will be released on e-book format only on pottermore.

What WAS the clue? What did it look like? I mean was it hard to find???

The clue was just a question on the homepage of pottermore. The clue itself is not hard to find since it's just there but you have to go on the website at the right time to see it. If you go when all the spaces have been filled, it will say: Sorry, Registration Day _ is now closed. So then you have to try and be there the next day when it does pop out, which can be at any time.
It's more challenging to find the answer to the clue if you don't know it off the top of your head. You can always try to find the answer by using the books or goggling it.

The clue for Day 1 was: How many breeds of owls were offered on the Eeylops Owl Emporium sign, then multiply this number by 49.

Clue for Day 2 was: What is the number of the chapter in which Professor McGonagall cancels the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff? Multiply this number by 42.

The first day was at 1am PST and 4am EST or 9am UK time. I think todays was at 5am EST. Tomorrow who knows when it might be. It's random times. They could put Day 3 clue at any moment now since they base it off United Kingdom time and it's already day 3 over there.

There are sites that you can have check pottermore every 30 seconds and when it's updated it'll make noise so that you know the clue is up :) I'll try to find what site to use for those still needing to get in

Timing wasn't an issue cos I logged in during the evening NZ time, which is the middle of the night in the US so I got straight in. Yes you are. If you verified your account, you'll get an email sometime after the 6th. 1million people are in for the beta stage once the magical quill event is over. Because 1million is an insane amount of people, they're staggering people's entry dates. I'm assuming (aka hoping) that the people who signed up the first day will get in almost right away and the people who don't sign up until the 7th day of the event are the ones that have to wait a while.

Basically, if you've verified, you're getting into the site before October...just don't know when yet exactly.

I'm really excited that we'll eventually be able to get the HP eBooks through Pottermore. I've been wanting to put them on my iPad so I can bring them everywhere to re-read when I have some free time (i.e. when I'm bored at work - that's how I read all three Hunger Games books :lol:) but obviously, they aren't available right now!

I have read a lot of books that way. At least with now that I have a kindle I don't have to lug a book everywhere. Too bad I won't be able to HP on it and our iPad stays at the house as my wife's toy.

It's so much easier having something like an iPad or Kindle to lug around instead of a book. I love that I can read right on my computer, too, with the Kindle app!

I love it. I was hesitant to buy something that really doesn't do anything but books at first. I started using the kindle app on the computer and the iPad just to see if I liked reading ebooks. My wife bought me the kindle for Christmas and while I enjoyed ebooks on the iPad I loved them on the kindle. It is lighter and the buttons on the side allow you to hold it with either hand and easily turn the page. It is easy to find and add books. The commercials are true too. When my wife take the iPad and I take the kindle to the pool one of us can read easier than the other. The leather case that Amazon sells is a must in my opinion. It has a built in light that powers off of the kindle's battery so you can read in the dark.

I have the Nook and I wish I had gotten the Kindle instead. From what I've heard the Kindle is one of the best eReaders. I got my Nook when it first came out and was really expensive and since it was the first one made it had many problems. I had to exchange mine right away because the buttons would stick and make weird noises and then the screen would freeze.
But I haven't even used it to read even 1 book since. I just prefer to carry around my book everywhere I go. But I think I would use it more if it were a Kindle. I want to get the Harry Potter books for it also.

I was sorted into Ravenclaw. My second choice of house, but at least it wasn't Gryffindor or Hufflepuff (nothing against those houses, they just don't suit me).

I had about 8 questions for the sorting. How I want people to talk about me once I'm dead, Biggest Fear, What extra power would I want (indivisibility, change appearance, change the past, etc etc etc), Stars or Moon, White Rook or Black Rook, which direction I would go: beach, forest or castle. I can't remember if I had any other ones :lol:

Actually, it doesn't seem like the day you signed up has anything to do with it. I've seen people from Day 6/7 getting in, while I got in on Day 1, and I'm still not in yet.

Yay, at least I'm not alone in my pain :) It would be really cool that everytime you sign in, they ask you a question to be let into your common room.

The questions I got were: What would you rather have other people think about you? What nightmare would scare you the most? Dusk or dawn? Heads or tails? What kind of drink would you drink from? What do you pride yourself in the most? I forgot the others if there were more.

Actually, it doesn't seem like the day you signed up has anything to do with it. I've seen people from Day 6/7 getting in, while I got in on Day 1, and I'm still not in yet.

I'll attempt to write it again.

Honestly, I'm a bit underwhelmed with it. For something they worked on for so long to be able to be completely in 4 hours is quite lame. They made it out to be all this extra content and the only things we really got were the things we knew we'd be getting (Dursley's and McGonagall's stories). And once you finish the story, there isn't enough to do. You can only duel and make potions for so long before it gets boring.

They also need to give us way to earn more galleons if it's going to be as long as they've said before CoS comes out. Especially if we have to keep buying new cauldrons because they like to explode.

I'm a bit disappointed with the "extra info" the other houses got. It wasn't anything special really nor do we get to see the actual common room. Since I headed up in Ravenclaw (instead of my desired Slytherin ) it'd be nice if we had the chance to solve the riddles needed to enter the common room.

The lag is incredible, especially considering there were only about 5k people let into the site yesterday. I don't know if it was because of the people or the graphics, but needs to be fixed.

All in all, I like it, I enjoyed going through the story. But I'm was expecting more considering the amount of hype it had.

I signed up at 2am PST the first day and I still haven't received my welcome letter! :'( I'm anxiously waiting! But I have 2 friends who received theirs. I am meeting up with one tomorrow night and I can't wait for her to tell me how it is but maybe I'll try not to have expectations to make sure I enjoy a lot when I finally get in! LOL

My experience in Day 1:
1. Pottermore is AMAZING. However, it's not perfect yet.
2. Sound effects and music would be GREAT, right now it's kind of eerily quiet.
3. Some chapters go WAY too fast. Many don't have a lot of interactive features, and are just boring.
4. Lessons don't have any interactive features, which is a disappointment. I think it would be great to learn a spell during that particular "moment".
5. The artwork is AMAZING. There are many moving parts of the photos too, which is great. Seeing the flying books in the library and flying letters at 4 Privit Drive is AMZIN
6. The new information is GREAT. There's backstory on McGonagall and wandlore that is AMAZING, and by far lived up to my expectations.
7. The process on getting a wand and getting sorted is pretty cool, and fun.
8. Casting spells and making potions is fun, but lags a LOT, since so many people are trying to get in.
9. I'm now officially a Gryffindor, with a 12 1/2 inch unyielding wand made out of Hazel, with a core of Unicorn hair. My familiar is a brown owl, I don't know why I chose it, it just jumped out at me for some reason.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is how the bottle will tip over if you pick them up from the wrong area. Which isn't realistic at all. :nono: oh and it would help if the instructions were on the screen at the same time as you're working on it.

I understand that it's the beta phase, but it worries me that they had such trouble yesterday with only 10k people.

Plus, it'd be nice if they let the beta testers know when they were working on something. At least quickly, not at the end of the day when people have already figured that out.

Yea, dueling is still down :mad: It's been nearly two weeks and it's still not up yet.

When dueling *was* up, I didn't have any issue with it. Yes it was a bit tough to figure out what you were supposed to do but once you did it was easy.

It was lagging a bit the first night, but that was likely my computer (plus everything was lagging at that point)

Oh and I had a potion i did, left it, said it was 100%, went back to finish and it started me all over again :mad: I've been starting one before I go to bed and checking it when I get up. Even though I didn't finish, I still get a point so that's not bad.

I don't think that's the case, I've heard a couple of stories about people who answered the clue on the later days and have already gotten in. They're probably letting in different demographics, so that way they can get opinions from as many as possible.

You know for the first 3 chapters it was really slow on my computer. I did them over the course of a few days because it just wouldn't go. After that though the lagging stopped and I was able to fly by the rest of it. No need to hurry though! You only get book one now anyway!

I haven't been spending as much time on the site because I'm seriously getting bored of potions being the ONLY thing to do. They're supposed to put up a blog post tomorrow about what's going on. It's....sorta of working. It's in beta phase right now so you can't sign up now. It's not role playing. You go through the books and find out new information. Get a wand and get sorted. It's not time consuming. You can finish the first book (the only one out yet) in about 3 hours.

Seriously. It's not as if there even are hundreds of thousands of users. Only about 400,000 made it to sorting. Most of them only play for a few days and then forget about it so it can't be that horrible. I can't imagine they're still going through with the regular release in a couple weeks.

Actually, I just looked it up and all it says is the beginning of October. And by now we've learned that they have a very loose interpretation of what "beginning" and "middle" of a month means.

I like that they are finally (but still WAY TO SLOWLY) updating Pottermore. I was one of the people who waited up the first night and because a beta user. Then when I was allowed in, I'm pretty sure I did nothing for about a week straight lol. I hope they keep things coming faster, especially since there are no more books or movies!
