View Full Version : Using AP Discount at D-Street

So I'm considering going to D-Street for the June 24th release instead of ordering online. I don't have an AP, but my friend does. She told me I could borrow it and try to use her discount to get my vinyls. My question is this: do they check your ID when you purchase vinyls? Sometimes? Always? I was going to pay cash so I could avoid using a CC with a different name on it, but obviously I don't have an ID that says her name on it.
Thanks for any tips/advice :) I've never used her AP before, but it would REALLY come in handy for this release, considering the cost of the vinyls I'm getting!

I have used cash and CC and only recall being asked for an ID when using the CC. However, my AP is the version with a picture on it. If your friends' AP is the newer version with no picture, depending on which CM you get, you may or may not get asked for a picture ID. Not sure if this helps or not. Worse case, I will be there on the 24th and getting some figures as well. I'd be happy to get some things for you. I do plan on getting a couple of UP figures for other members but my wife will be there as well. Let me know. We'll help you out.

Hers doesn't have a photo on it. Hmm.. I kinda figured it would be a crap shoot as to whether I get asked for an ID or not. I might just have to take my chances!
I'll be at WDW D-Street, and I think you're talking about DLR? I appreciate the offer, though! :)

I suppose it could be worth a shot? Never been out to WDW so obviously never been to their D-Street but at DLR I was still asked for my ID even with my photo on the back of mine.

I used our annual pass all last week in different locations around WDW and at D-Street a few times. Sometimes I was asked for ID sometimes I wasn't. Some CM's only needed me to show them the back real quick an then would ask "wait was that the premium or non?" lol. I just think it depends on the CM. I always asked if they needed ID when they didn't ask me for it and most of the time I got "nah" lol. And sometimes they gave me the premium discount instead of the regular one which was always welcomed considering how much I was spending lol.

Usually they do check id, but hey I'd try and see what happens! If they ask, just say you left it in the car or something... Lol

"Oh no! It's in my husband's wallet and I left him at the Lego store with our toddler!"
(I don't have a baby )

See now that could actually work! JT would call for me from the other side of the store since I hold the passes. I'm sure it's not unheard of for people to say the other one has it in Disney World lol. I mean you could have easily grabbed the cash and pass and left everything in the stroller with the Husband. I say go with that! Lol

I have one with no picture and have been asked to show ID 100% of the time at both DLR and WDW. At this point I don't even wait for them to ask though, I just pull ID out with the AP, so maybe they are not asking as much as I think they are.

It's certainly worth a shot. I mean, my gosh. The worst they can say is no and I have to pay full price! It's not like they won't sell me my vinyls if I can't prove that the AP is mine

Surprisingly, I usually get "carded" () at D-Street. It's the one place that seems pretty consistent, at least for me.
If they do hassle you, you might have to deny that you know the person, though - giving your pass to someone else to use can lead to it being revoked. :pout:
Although like the others, I suspect you won't have any trouble. Besides, the rest of us in line can vouch for you!

from my experiences buying from dstreet, they'll more likely ask for id, just have a conversation with the cm, and hopefully he or she will be distracted

When I vacationed at WDW last year....I was asked for photo ID each time I utilized my pass (which included my purchases at D-street). But with the release on the 24th...it might be hectic enough that they would forget. Good luck!

i was there a few weeks ago and they had a lot of new employees that knew nothing. i asked if i could use my disneyland ap to buy vinyls and they said ok. i tried using the same technique in the world of disney and they turned me down :( i'm glad i got my savings and thanks for not really looking

That's true. I did buy my AP Orange Bird with just my AP & debt card. Never had to show my ID. It could also be a lazy CM who could've cared less too. Either way, it's still smart to bring your ID. Never know if you're going to deal with lackadaisical or strict CMs regarding that.
