View Full Version : Muppets Series #3???

So, with the release of Muppets #2 today, I was wondering if anybody had any information on the possibility of there being a Muppets #3 in the future?

And if there was to be a Muppets #3, would there be enough Muppets characters left to make another full set? What do you all think? What characters would you include?

A must for me would be a 3" Gonzo, Animal, and Sam Eagle. I like the 9" versions, but it just doesn't seem right for them to be left out of the 3" series.

I would like to see Lips (the trumpet player), some of the pirates from Muppet Treasure Island, the Newscaster, Beauregard, The Vet Hospital muppets, Crazy Harry, and Dr. Phil van Neuter

It depends on the license of it. If possible, FRAGGLES!

Frazzles are still owned by Henson Inc. Disney couldn't use them.

Yeah, no Fraggles for us.
I do hope we get a series three. There are plenty of characters to go around. I for one would really like an Uncle Deadly. I also really hope we'd see a 3" Gonzo, Animal and Sam. If not that would stink. Another non chase Kermit would be nice for those of us who missed the Parks series 1 wagon.

Are there any more ways they could tie into muppetvision? Different costumes for the main characters? And would they do a tie-in with the new movie?

I think what I'd be most concerned with on a 3rd series is whether or not they'd use the new style body. I really don't know how I'd feel about having a themed collection across two styles. I would look strange I think, like the new style figures are knock offs.

And what about Robin?

If they made a 9" sweetums with a little Robin that would be the first 9" set I would buy.

Now that I think about why are they wasting time making regular characters into 9"? Let's get Dog Lion, (big) Sweetums and Thog out there for series 3!

If they made a 9" sweetums with a little Robin that would be the first 9" set I would buy.

That would be perfect! A 9" Sweetums with a Robin Jr. like they did with the 9" Villains.

As much as people don't like the 9" Animal and Gonzo because they're not appropriate in size to the others, Sweetums doesn't make sense as a 3" either. You've got a great solution!

Very true my vinylnation friends a 9" sweeting would be ideal. It makes the most sense put of them all. They should have done that the first moppets series.

Geez we need to work for disney

I would imagine (hope) that they'll push something out for the new movie coming out in November. It would be awesome if they did a Muppet Movie series. Or started including Kermit chasers from his different film roles.

Ok...so I just need a 3" Kermit :D

Another awesome awesome 9" set would be a Jim Henson with a Kermit 3". I don't know how that would play out with the likeness rights but at the very least I'd think Disney would have access to the Muppet Jim from the Muppet show.

They did recently bring her back in the Boom! comics run so I wouldn't completely rule her out:

Baby muppets would be cool I used to love their tapes as a kid but IDK if they would sell with collectors or first time buyers. Mabey a set of baby charaters like baby mickey and such could be a cutesters 3 or spinoff form set.

I love the Muppets and I absolutely love the line and I hope they continue to make more. There's plenty of Muppets left, but they'd have to dive into some obscure territory to fill a whole set, I think. But if I was to design the next set, I'd want it to look like this;

New 3" Kermit
3" Gonzo
3" Animal
Crazy Harry
The Muppet Newsman
Beauregard
Uncle Deadly
Skeeter
Manha Manha
Snowth
Robin
Jim (Chaser)

If there was a series three I would imagine that Walter (From the new movie) would be snuck in there by Disney. I also think they'd add a themed set of figures (Vet's Hospital) like they did with PiS. Though that crossed into two previously unreleased characters. Gonzo and Animal would be musts as 3". I'd want to see Sam there too. We really need some Monsters in the 9" size.

I really want to see Robin as a cutester.

I'd imagine it to look like:

Gonzo
Animal
Uncle Deadly
Doctor Bob
Nurse Piggy
Nurse Janice
Bobo
Beauregard
Pops (or Crazy Harry)
Sam
Walter
The Chaser I don't know....

for 9" I'd like to see
Sweetums with a Cutester Robin
Thogg
Jim with a 3" Kermit

In addition to a 3" Sam, Animal, and Gonzo (I hate 9" so much), we also need a new Kermit. Most people missed out of Kermit because he was in park 1, and you can't have a collection of Muppets without the main muppet. Put him in his reporter coat if they'll get sad about a straight up re-release. Beauregard and Uncle Deadly would be cool too. Have the chaser be of the Jim Henson muppet.

Muppet Family Christmas is the best! Too bad Sprocket is a Fraggle character - I always associate him with that special. She's in Muppet Christmas Carol too, a movie I watch year round. I'd throw the Ghost of Christmas Present in from that one. Also, the Snowman from the Family Christmas would be a cute VM!

Kermit was also in Muppets #1.

But he was the chaser (which means again, not many people have him) and they took his eyes off of the ears, which looks bad in my opinion. They put Park 1 Kermit front and center on the box of Muppets 2 as if to taunt you and say, "you will never own the star of this series!" I understand the collectible nature of this toyline, but not rereleasing Kermit with the rest of the Muppets was kind of stupid. It's what made me not buy a single box of the Muppets series. I don't want to end up with every muppet minus Kermit.

I wasn't debating anything, I was just adding that there was a second Kermit that you didn't mention is all. I wish he has been more readily available too, but that's the nature of these collectibles. A lot of the best designs have been the chasers and less available.

My ideal Series would be:
Crazy Harry! Mahna Mahan and The Snowths (the Snowths would be the three figure per box)! Gonzo the Great, Bobo the Bear, Clifford, Lips

Muppet Treasure Island characters:
Kermit as Captain Smollett, Sam the Eagle as Samuel Arrow, Fozzie as Squire Trelawney

Chaser:
Walter (the new muppet from the upcoming movie)

9"
Sweetums from Muppet Treasure Island

I really hope another series comes out. Muppets 1 was the first vinyl series I started collecting! It's a shame there are really only obscure characters left that aren't well known to the general public. I kind of wish they would have spread them out in the other sets. A third series will probably consist of Muppets we have already seen but in a different form. I really like the idea of Dr. Bob, Nurse Janice and Nurse Piggy. I would also like to see Lips, Crazy Harry, Beauregard, Robin, Clifford and Bobo. The Jim Henson muppet would be a perfect chaser!

I agree that Animal Gonzo and Sam all need to be given a 3" vinyl. But I would also like to see possibly a set themed after Muppet Treasure Island (which is my favorite Muppet Movie). But I would love to get all the Muppets in their pirate outfits. Plus (and I know this will never happen) how cool would it be to have the chaser and variants be Old Tom, Real Old Tom and Dead Tom!

Filling a 3rd set would definitely be a stretch. Crazy Harry and Bobo Bear would be welcome additions as well as Mana Mana. The Jim Henson idea is awesome. And if you've seen the trailer for the movie then you will agree that Danny Trejo is in fact a muppet and therefore should be a figure in the set.

Just thinking of who else they can add if/when they make a Series 3. I think Kermit, Gonzo, and Animal are definately needed. If I had things my way my list of 12 would look like:

Muppet Newsman
Animal
Sam

My main dislike for series 2 was the fact it had both Pigs in Space and Electric Mayhem, which I think was an attempt to make people buy the rest to form complete sets. Only one I really wanted was the penguin. I hope they decide to just release another Kermit (reporter, tux, Captain Smollet, etc) and Gonzo (daredevil ftw) in this mix. If the mention of the series containing core characters in different outfits holds up, there are a lot of great potential ideas:

The Great Gonzo
Kermit as Phil
Kermit as Rosenthal
Fozziwig
Nurse Piggy
Statue of Liberty Piggy
Rolf as Dr. Bob
Sam the Eagle as Samuel Arrow
Statler and Waldorf as Jacob and Robert Marley

As well characters that are more obscure and haven't been done yet. Lots of potential for this series!

Actually, I hate to say that they aren't, at least not right now. I asked Monty, the lead artist on the Muppets, while he was signing my Orange Bird Chaser about a 3rd Muppets series and he said while their will no doubt be another one later, they are taking a break from the Muppets for a while. They felt they released the first two series too close together and they don't want people to get tired of them. So we prbably won't see Muppets 3 untill 2013 or 2014.

Thank you for bumping this thread as with everything going on, I'd completely forgot I'd asked him about that.

Um, Muppets 2 was awesome. The members of the Electric Mayhem are icons. There wasn't one bad figure in the whole series, which can't be said for Muppets 1, which had a few less-than-desirable characters.

Not having to worry about that for a few years is a-okay in my book.

Um, Muppets 2 was awesome. The members of the Electric Mayhem are icons. There wasn't one bad figure in the whole series, which can't be said for Muppets 1, which had a few less-than-desirable characters.

Yes! You can't not have Electric Mayhem! I'm still sad they don't have a 3in drummer. I don't want to buy a 9 in to complete the band. Brilliant marketing plan Disney, but I'm not falling for it.

And I love Pigs in Space! It was one of my favorite bits! They totally made Muppets 2 for me!

I do think Muppets 3 will have 3" versions of Animal and Gonzo. They are too popular not to have more than 1 design.

Yeah I'm really hoping Muppets 3 has 3" versions of Gonzo and Animal, and another Kermit that is not the chaser haha, I just want a 3" Kermit in my collection but the two out already are hard to get being a chaser and a Park 1 haha.

Here is what I would like to see for Muppets Series 3:
-Gonzo
-Animal
-Sam the Eagle
-Doctor Bob
-Nurse Janice
-Nurse Piggy
-Link Hogthrob (regular)
-Clifford
-Walter
-Marvin Suggs (with muppaphones as accessories)
-Mahna Mahna
-Snowths

or maybe:
-Muppet newscaster
-Uncle Deadly
-Kermit as reporter
-Pops
-Bobo

Maybe a special set of Koozebanians?

For 9", I'd like:
-Sweetums with Jr. Robin
-Thog
-DogLion

There are still plenty of good Muppets to use and sure, some of them are pretty obscure, but that's ok.

To be honest, I wouldn't want a Muppets Series 3 if it's going to be on the new mold, but Disney is just going to do it anyways and muck it up
But if they go Original Mold I would want it to be based on The Muppets Movie :D

so it'd be like:
Jason Segel (Muppet Form Variant)
Amy Adams
Walter (Human Form Variant)
80's Robot
Mahna Mahna
Sam the Eagle
Gonzo
Animal
Jim Henson
Fozzie Bear (Muppet Man)
Miss Piggy (Paris)
Chaser: Regular Kermit with Banjo Rainbow Connection

*Chaser Kermit would have like the nighttime sky or rainbow in the mickey ears and the Banjo painted on his body to differentiate him from the Park 1 Kermit and Muppets 1 Kermit*

I'd want to see:

Walter
Uncle Deadly
Bobo
Gonzo
Sam
Animal
Mahna Mahna
Snowth (Make this the filler so it's easy to get two)
Beauregard
Marvin Suggs
80's Robot
The chaser could be the Jason Segel Muppet.

For 9"s I still want to see those Muppet Monsters. Dog Lion, Thogg, Sweetums (with Robin Jr). And a 9" Jim Henson (Muppet version) with a 3" Kermit.

I'd also LOVE it if they made a Barber Shop Quartet box with Sam, Rowlf, Beaker, and Link. Hey they don't call this wishlisting for nothing....

I half agree. I definitely think the "Muppets" series should stay exclusively Muppets, but for that reason, Jason Segel's Muppet form is fair game. If they were to include the humans, they should just make a "Disney's: the Muppets" series. Just my two cents

Quick question for major collectors. I have only 1 9" vinyl (Tree of Life with the idea of placing my Animal Kingdom animals around it for display). I would like to get Gonzo and Animal, but am worried about the size difference for themed vinyls to see weird. What do you think?

There are plenty of ready ideas and some art for Muppets 3; we just won't be seeing it any time soon. That doesn't mean we couldn't see Muppets pop up in other series until the return of the full Muppets Series.

I would be totally stoked if they did a complete Muppet Babies series. I'd love that show and it started my love of the Muppets! And then they could include Skeeter. I was sad that didn't include her as the grew up. Scooter and Skeeter were meant to grow up as siblings! At least they brought her back in the comics...

I would also love to see Uncle Deadly, Nurse Janice (I just love Janice!), and Mahna Mahna and the Snowths!

So no word yet on Muppets 3??? Bummer! This was what brought me to VM and Muppets 2 was the first set I completed. I would love to see the Muppet babies like others had suggested or the could go by certain movies.... Although I think so far there has been no rhythm or reason to who is included. But with the 3 Muppets in Space pigs they could dedicate a small part of a set to individual movies. Great Muppet Caper was my favorite so to see Miss Piggy in her biker get up!! Oh I would just die and go to heaven!!!

If I don't LOVE it I don't collect it. So I've been able to complete most of what I have through blind boxing and smart trading. But anything Muppets is a must for me.... And since I haven't bought any vinyls in a while I have the itch.....

I get a certain amount of $ each month for "fun" stuff. But that includes if I "NEED" clothes. But like makeup, vinyls, going out to lunch with the girls.. Stuff like that. But, I sell Thirty-One and that pays for my car payment, gas and insurance on my car. If I don't make enough to cover those, no allowance :(! When your working on one "real" income you have to be creative... I'm sure you do that too.

Believe me I get it! That is why the highest I will pay for a vinyl is $25. It's my one rule. And it's also why I've determined there are just some vinyls I will never have... SW Ghost Obi Wan is one of them. It's cool and I'd love to have it, but I could NEVER justify spending that much on a vinyl, plus my Hubs would literally kill me!!! ....sigh...... Maybe I can smolder Phylers into pulling one for me... He seems to have the "touch" with that particular vinyl!

I must admit that I was never a fan of the Muppet series continuing. Muppets 2 wasn't that good because it lacked strong characters. I think most people agree because the set doesn't have much value currently. With that being said, I am really excited for Muppets 3. There are some great characters previewed already, and I absolutely loved the Muppet Movie. It really renwed the Muppet series. I could watch that movie all day..it's ridiculously funny.

No hard dates yet. Summer is plausible, but this is a series that would be easy to delay, say until we're closer to the release date of the next film.
