Starts TODAY! The wife went and picked up tickets at the theater earlier today so...I'm IN!!!! The run-time per Fandango is just under 3 hours. I assume that includes the 15 minute intermission as well.
I'll definitely post a review on here tonight or tomorrow!

Wow, That is pretty rough huh...I thought you both only jabbed at each other here on the forums, but not being invited to the special edition Toy Story I & II (3D)...All I can say is "WOW!"...BigAl just brought this to a whole new level...
I plan on going to this next weekend, I never saw these movies when they where out in the theater, and really wish our local IMAX theater was carrying it but unfortunately they are playing some meatball movie. They are playing here in the Showcase Cinemas only three times per day, so I will go and hit it next week. Was hoping they would have some special soda glass thing or something like that, but doesn't look like any theaters are doing anything special for it.

We went early this morning and it was awesome. The quality was fantastic and the 3 hours flew by. The intermission was entertaining too. They had some trivia and some extra clips during the 10 minutes.
Oh, and they show a 3D trailer for Toy Story 3. Looks awesome!

How about the kids? Can they handle the lenght? I have 6 and 10 year olds. Let me know!

Funny you should mention that. Most of the adults without kids -- and there were quite a lot of us -- were getting pretty annoyed with a lot of the kids in the theatre. A bunch of kids were getting really talkative, walking through the aisles and playing around.
On that note, I'm always amazed how some parents just let their kids do whatever in theatres. You'd think everyone "shushing" them would kind of embarrass the parents enough to get their kids to stop talking and playing around.

I'm hoping to go see this tomorrow night, but it's going to be a very bust weekend for me, so I don't know if we'll make it. My local IMAX is showing it, so :-P, BigAL! I don't need your invite OR your stupid text message rubbing it in!

I enjoyed seeing both movies in theaters again. I really don't think the 3-Dness really made a difference though. I mean, there was nothing in the movie that was made specifically in 3-D to pop out at you so it was kind of pointless if you ask me.
After watching Toy Story we had to move over a row because the woman next to me let her child do whatever his little heart desired. He talked through the WHOLE movie and she didn't even bother to tell him to be quiet. He kept banging on the person's seat in front of him too. During the intermission the woman in that seat was talking about how annoying he was. I really don't think parents should bring their small kids to the movies if they don't know how to act. I was never like that when I was little. My mom always said I was quiet as can be. Hope my kids are like I was.

oh god, I hate when that happens. whats even worse is when it's the adult who dont shut up.
I've actually almost gotten into a fight because I shushed someone and they didnt like it...and yea lets just say it was better than I left the theatre before anything bad happened.

oh man, on this topic... we got to see the 2 movies and intermission at D23 last month. The intermission is amazing!! Pee before you go, do not miss this.
but also, they showed a 4 or 5 minute scene from Toy Story 3 for those of us there... AMAZING! I can not wait! I won't say what happens (don't wanna ruin it, cuz all of us were going "WHAT?? NO!!!"), but you see grown up Andy and it sets up whats gonna happen to the characters. It was SOO intense. I can NOT wait for part 3!! I truly recommend this for fans of the films, you havent seen them until you've seen them in 3D!

I was really impressed with the double feature. It's been a long time since I saw either of the movies, so it was a nice treat to relive old moments and catch things I'd forgotten about. Personally, I'm not huge on the 3D thing. I haven't quite been convinced yet that it's anything more than a kitsch thing. It doesn't hurt the movie at all, but I'm not sold on the idea that it's adding anything either. Still, it was just fun to see both of these on the big screen again.

I really enjoyed it. It was great to see it on the big screen again, and one right after the other was a real treat! I loved what they did at intermission!
I noticed some things that I hadn't noticed before:
1- Hidden Mickey in TS: Mickey tattoo on a rocker looking guy on a poster in Sid's bedroom
2- HM in TS2- Wall clock on Andy's bedroom wall
3- Line from Rex (TS2) that's even funnier that before considering the recent release of up. When trying to figure out how to get Up the elevator shaft he says "Maybe we can get some balloons and float up"

I've got to go see this. How does it transfer over to 3D? Is it actually worth the price?

I haven't seen the movie myself, but will be writing a report on what I find out about the transfer for a school project.
Technically speaking, it will be like a brand spanking new movie since from what i;ve heard/read, the original files were taken out of the pixar archives and then re-rendered using today's technology. A second camera was added in the virtual realm, creating a true 3D image and not some faux-3D like in nightmare before christmas.
I heard that John Lassetter wanted to go 3D, but did not want to over do the effects, but instead use the right depths at the right time to better accentuate the moods from scene to scene.
As far as if it's worth it, I will not comment. I have only seen the two on VHS tapes so I am definitely looking forward to dropping the cash to watch it soon.

This is really cool. I'm glad he talked about who voiced Slinky Dog in TS3. I was wondering what they were going to do since Jim Varney passed away. :(

As far as the show...AWESOME. Sorry I forgot to post a review. Work has been crazy busy. But I really enjoyed them. I'm not a 3D fan but the 3D in these movies was great. The theater I went to has a good digital system and the colors were very vivid. As far as the kids, I don't think we had an problems with the kids in the theater with us. They were all into the movies. The intermission does help. But if you don't have to head to the restroom, don't. I LOVED the intermission games.

I saw it yesterday in between classes and the movie was really enjoyable.
What wasn't so enjoyable was the theater I chose to watch it at. Just a small review: I find that Dobly 3D isn't that great since their glasses don't fit well on top of prescription glasses. The lenses are small and since they are not reusable, often the lenses are dirtied up. RealD, I think, is much better since they have larger and lighter glasses which fit better over glasses, thus resulting in a better 3D look. Just my thought. :)

Thanks for the heads up on this Ryanvalle, I always wear my glasses and don't have contacts, so I fall into a similar problem as you where the 3D cardboard glasses don't fit over my glasses or my ears. I just watched Monsters vs Aliens the other day, and basically had to lay the 3D glasses over my prescription ones. Maybe I will try and extend them out a bit before going to the movie theater and just use those glasses since they are the same (I Believe!). I have a similar problem when seeing Muppet Vision 3D where those plastic glasses don't go smoothly over my ears and keep falling off Grrrr...Thanks for the info, wasn't sure what type of glasses they would have...

The theater I went to uses the RealD (http://www.reald.com/index.aspx) system where the glasses are like sunglasses. The colors were incredibly vivid and the 3D was spectacular. I've heard some people complain that 3D washes out the colors and dulls the images...the RealD system definitely does not do that.

Ditto. The theater I saw it at also used RealD, and the colors were great! I kept mine. :look:

I almost kept mine....but I kept mine from The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D and threw them away a few months later. Now, if they would give you a discount on the ticket if you brought your own glasses, I DEFINITELY would have kept them.

Well, they gave them to us sealed in plastic bags with the RealD logo on them and I didn't see any place to deposite them afterwards, so I figured it was a free give-away!

Definitely NOT a free give-away...that's why it costs so much more to see a 3D movie. Ours came in the plastic bags too, there was a carboard box in the actual theater you could throw the glasses in afterwards.

Haha the Dobly 3D glasses had a small tab on it saying that there's an anti-theft device on it.
Personally, I think RealD movies should be kept at regular price, but if you don't have 3D glasses already, they would tack on an extra price onto your ticket.
And about the glsses being used as 3D glasses, they may darken things, but serve no UV protection at all :). I think the Dolby glasses even had a warning about that :) haha

So did my RealD. I had plenty of time to read over the packaging before the show started cause they were still cleaning the theatre from the previous showing.

I'm too cheap to pay extra for 3D...I go to too many movies to do that.

They're cheap, light-weight plastic with the special 3D lenses, but they're better than cardboard.
