View Full Version : $10 x 3 = ...$40?

So I was thinking about Vinylmation, and I realized, if a 3'' is about $10, then why is the 9'' about $40 instead of $30? Is there any logic?

PS: Please don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean to complain at all, I was just wondering about the differences between the 3 and 9 inch other than the size. :)

The biggest (and most valuable difference) is that the 9-inchers are all LIMITED EDITIONS -- and in collectors' world, LEs are much more highly sought after!
Also coming with each 9-inch figure is a nifty little button!

it's just the premium they tack on based on perceived value. If only everything in life worked out perfectly mathematically. =P

If anything since we're buying 6 extra inches, we should get some kind of price break right? =)

Oh, the button sounds cool! But aren't all of them really limited edition, they just arent labeled that way? I mean, since Disney says once they're gone, they're gone, and once a new series, like a park 3 instead of park 2, wont the old ones not be sold anymore?

Oh. Haha, yeah, that's what I assumed, I just wasn't sure if there was some huge difference i didn't know about =P

if you want something worse than that.. add a 3" to that 9" (ie Haunted Mansion or the Incredibles), and it's $75

You should also keep in mind that there is *A LOT* more bulk and materials used in a 9" Vinylmation than there is in three 3" ones put together. More materials means more money.

I'm still trying to figure that one out.

You really can't compare the manufacturing costs of making 3 3" figures versus 1 9" figure. Plus, the 3" figures are produced at a much larger quantity. The larger the quantity, the cheaper it is to make them.

what i have seen which might help is looking at pins .. if they are limited edition they tend to be a little more money a good example look at park series pins which were 2 for 12bucks but when they came out with urban two they were 2 for 16 since it said it was limited release so maybe same works for limited 9" since they are LE the price is a little higher

Sorry but this entire thread read like a comedy routine to me. For whatever reason it cracked me up. Maybe I need to stop drinking coffee before going to bed.

It is all about the perceived value. I mean the plain white ones are the same price as artist rendered copies.........What gives!!
