Hungry Bear Re-Opens With Delicious New Menu!!!!

http://parksandresorts.wdpromedia.com/media/disneyparks/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/hbr018388SMALL.jpg

After weeks of renovation, Hungry Bear is back.

We love dining outdoors in this serene spot in Critter Country, daydreaming in the shade as the Sailing Ship Columbia and the Davy Crockett canoes pass by on Rivers of America.

The new menu features an Angus 1/3-pound chili cheeseburger (or skip the chili and just go for the cheeseburger) topped with a fried onion ring, a yummy fried green tomato sandwich with jicama-mango slaw (an insider fave), crispy chicken sandwich with honey-mustard sauce and turkey and provolone on a multi-grain roll with basil mayo and a crisp slaw on the side.

We’re already partial to Big Al’s chicken salad with smoked chicken, lettuce, watermelon, candied pecans, dried cherries, pickled red onion and honey-lime vinaigrette (make it vegetarian and skip the chicken). Make any meal a combo with sweet potato fries or fruit.

http://parksandresorts.wdpromedia.com/media/disneyparks/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/hbr045877SMALL.jpg

Pastry chefs really had fun with the tart-sweet “Hunny Lemon Cupcakes” (“something to bee-hold,” we’re told, topped with an edible chocolate bee). Or go for the mini-blueberry pie.

For kids, burgers with sweet potato fries or fruit; chicken breast nuggets with fruit; a “power pack” with string cheese, nonfat yogurt, sliced apples and whole-grain “fish” crackers; and mac and cheese.

Omg did you guys read all the comments after. People are split half hate it half love it, and then theres the vegans...lol

Anyway, I like that there is finally a difference between this and the tommorrowland terrace. And I love sweet potato fries, so good.

But Tomorrowland Terrace changed their menu last year and that was a huge difference from the old Hungry Bear menu!

Looks like Disneyland food and food quality is going up! Good Job Gary Maggetti (Disneyland Food and Beverage Manager)!

I want to know how it is!

it was pretty good. the mango-jicama slaw had a lot of flavor, thought the fried green tomatoes were really thinly cut. a bit too much bread to. but the sweet potato fries were awesome!

The one vegan (or as my friend calls them vege-terrorists  ) comment there seems pretty militant. Most vegans I know are not that hardcore about having "certified vegan" food. Since I am vegetarian (except for the few occasions I cheat), I appreciate having more options.

here's a pic of the fried green tomato sandwich. as you can see, there is a really high bread to filling ratio.

I'm excited to try this new menu. For some reason, I always end up eating at Hungry Bear but I was always disappointed by the veggie burgers. Fried green tomato sandwich sounds really tasty!

The entire Hungry Bear Menu is amazing! Everything is so yummy, it is definitely worth the walk to back of the park! :)

The new menu looks good - I can't recall ever eating in the Hungry Bear in the past.

Gotta try that blueberry pie! They look so cute!

BTW, am I the only person who secretly wished they would turn the Hungry Bear into a sit-down restaurant with the audio-animatronic bears playing ala Chuckie Cheese?

Just in case you forget to bring the coupon....there is a copy of it on the entertainment schedule when you enter the park. If your family plans to eat at different locations...grab an extra copy...they take the coupon when you order.

I have tried their turkey sandwich which was really good and healthy.
I have also tried the Big Al salad and it's not that great at all. It's very wet and they use dark chicken meat. I don't like when my chicken tastes too much like chicken so I rather eat white meat like chicken breast. Chicken salads taste better when the chicken is grilled and this one was definitely not grilled. Oh and it tasted exactly the same as the coleslaw they serve on the side instead of the sweet potato fries.

i really wanted to try the onion rings here, but my friend was paying so i didn't want to pay extra for them. anyone know if you can just sub onion rings for fries/slaw free of charge or is it extra?

I had the Chili Cheeseburger last week and it was pretty good. I like that they didn't put so much Chili on there that you couldn't pick it up. The onion rings were good too. My wife had a turkey sandwich and it was good also. The Sweet Potato Fries were not so great that night.

I love their onion rings! In fact, they are probably the best onion rings I've had in years.
