General Park Series #7 Discussion

With the final park 5 vinyls being releases at the end of this month and somewhere remember reading Park 6 for end of winter time (Spring is coming soon) I thought we could start discussing what the future holds.

Park Series #7 is dues out in October, and it will retail for $12.95.

We are only a few days away before we celebrate 40th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World® Resort. We decided to commemorate the occasion by turning Park #7 into a 40th Anniversary tribute collection. The new limited release mystery series is set for release on October 14 at the D-Street locations. The combo pack will also be released that day.

Here is a look at the tray and individual box for the series.

You will notice that the design for the box and tray has departed from the traditional black color used since 2008. The art team decided to use the popular 40th Anniversary merchandise collage introduced in early 2011.

As mentioned, the combo pack will also be released that day. It features a figure designed by Monty Maldovan from Disney Design Group and continues the "Mickey Mouse" series.

The 3-inch figures will retail for $12.95 each and the combo back will have a retail of $26.95.

I would love to see an ode to Roger Rabbit as he is an oft neglected character in Disney parks. (I'm assuming it has to due with property rights and such, but still) I remember as a kid wanting a Roger Rabbit stuffed animal, but no where in Disney World was one being sold. So my parents drove around Buena Vista to get me one; it had bendable ears (wires that eventually broke on the inside), but I still have it to this day. In short, Roger Rabbit needs to make an appearance in Park 7. P-p-please, Disney.

Need to find the pictures of some store displays posted. If I remember correctly we have also seen other characters such as Donald, Minnie, & Pluto. We already had Goofy in P4 and I need to finish my Fab 5 collection ;-)

We need one for the most popular, longest line ever for a ride on all of WDW property, no not for the transportation after park closing :lol: Toy Story Mania :thumbsup: we already have Buzz Lightyear in P5.

Maybe another one for a popular table service location like they did with Sci-Fi.

Wow. That's the one, Phylers. It's great to know Roger Rabbit is treasured elsewhere. Whenever I'm at MGM I always do the voice-over booth (after the inept Sounds Dangerous experience), and perform the "all the times you yanked my ears" scene between Roger and Eddie. And by the way, there's no such things as Roger Rabbit in bad lighting. Great shot!

I'm hoping the next will be Black or Silver, since my other favorites have already been made. Any hints since you seem to be in the know?

I'd like to see... Dumbo, retro epcot/mk, another World Showcase pavilion 9" (maybe PLEASE! American adventure.), yellow monorail (yellow and red seem so classic), and maybe some more 9" based on hotels or resturants? Poly, Grand floridian, or wilderness lodge would look amazing.

Let's just hope they one up park 4, which was the best (next to park 1 of course haha).

Id also like to see some park 1 esque designs, where they don't just slap an icon or character on to the vinyl, they create a vinylmation inspired by and reprepresentative of something. Like the tea cup. It looks nothing like the tea cup, but is totally understood.

Brer Bear is a must. And now that you mention it, I'd love to see a whole figment set. I remember back in the 90's they sold little plastic figures of Figment in all of his different outfits. (I still have all of mine!) I'd love to see these brought back in vinyl form; although it's probably true that most of them would be lost on a large part of the target audience for vinylmation. :bang:

I think Splash Mountain is due for a Vinylmation. They have already done both of the other mountains in WDW. Splash is the best one there anyway. I am surprised they haven't already actually. It may be just because of the movie the ride is based off of. Maybe there's some controversy with the rights or something. Although, I would think they own the rights.

Splash mountain is a must, although I wish they would do a mountain in 3 inch form. I mean I get why they're nine inch (they are MOUNTAINS) but I dislike the nine inch's shape (petty and weird, I know!) but they're such great rides...surely the 3 inches would be a hit too. Maybe the 3 inchers could be the cars (space mountain car, thunder mountain train, splash mountain log).

I think that'd be awesome.

Although there are PLENTY of amazing disney rides, I guess they probably want to finish the parks before they go doing alternate designs for rides that have already been done.

I've said it before, but how great would it be to have a Splash Mountain vinyl with the log flume going down into the briar patch on the front with a passing log flume on the feet going to the left...on the back a log flume ascends in relative darkness with a couple of vultures at the top of the vinyl with just a shade of blue (the sky) at the very top...

That Splash Mountain idea sounds like it would come out as a great looking vinyl piece. One can always hope that one of the artists gets a similar idea and makes it on to a Vinylmation piece. The 3" Cactus would be a good match to the piece but there are many of sites along the ride that could be made into a 3" accompanying piece, too. Possums hanging, beehive, gators, briar patch itself.

I was thinking the same exact thing. For WDW, it can be Indy, but for DLR, we should see something with the eye of Mara. Maybe a few of the skeletons strewn about the bottom, but mickeys face should resemble the forbidden eye of Mara

Interesting. As much as I love retro Disney stuff, I wonder if it's better to sprinkle items together in a series rather than isolate by theme. For the casual collector, the separation makes a lot of sense as they can buy blind boxes without as much fear of getting something they don't want. I am more fond of the idea of pirates stuff or splash mountain stuff being 'sprinkled' throughout the park series and not having a series of their own. It just seems more meaningful that way. As much as I understand and agree with the sentiment attached to immortalizing Walt on vinyl, I think it might just be a little tacky looking, dare I say even irreverent. Maybe if there was a way to print an actual picture of him on it or something, but I think a caricature would be too much. I would love, however, a 9"/3" set of the partners statue. I think that a vinyl representation of that would do the same thing as an actual Walt figure but in a slightly more reverent way.

I would love to see more Small World/POTC/Haunted Mansion vinyls in future Park series. I know there are POTC & Haunted Mansion sets coming out, but there are so many possibilites from those attractions, I like seeing them in the Park series. I completely agree with you! I have not yet decided if I'll be collecting the Pirates set. I'm not sure if it is the new mold, or just the designs themselves, but the set doesn't really excite me too much. I would have rather they just keep adding them to the park series.

It really doesn't matter b/c eventually ALL of the series, sets, and exclusive vinyls will be on the new mold.

Phos- that used to be my view on it, but so far the new mold sets have been a huge letdown. CLY and sea creatures were both just awful designs in my book, and at least comparatively they were sub-par. CLY were boring and detailess, especially compared to the previous cutesters sets, and sea creatures were no where near as artful as the Animal Kingdom predecessors. But maybe that's just me.

If there's any chance this new series is on the old mold, I'm very very excited.

Silvered will definitely agree! I wasn't a fan of the new mold or the pirate art and I really wasn't going to buy any. Once I saw them in person, I'm tempted to get the whole series. They are fantastic. So detailed and well done.

No. Wisely, Disney doesn't usually deal in absolutes when it comes to product releases until the dates are firm. I'd suspect around the time of the Florida Project, but we won't know until there's an official announcement. :thumbsup:

There are a number of older figures in that display, but WALL-E is probably the one that sticks out, as he's front-and-center. I'll take a more complete picture the next time I drop by Epcot, but off hand, just around those designs, I recall C3PO, Urban 2 Cosmos, and the Urban 5 9'' Moon Landing.

Interestingly, all of the older designs are depicted as if they were on the new mold, but I don't think there's anything to be taken from that save for the designers wanting the collage to look uniform. :thumbsup:

The new mold isn't completely evil. I agree that on non-humans it works pretty well. I will always miss the nose, though. :( For a while, I thought the new mold would end my collecting, but I've seen that a good design is a good design. I think the pirates set is very one-note and not very creative, but the CLY aren't all bad...Tuney won me over, I hate all the others. But Tuney taught me to love again.....

has there been any news about park 7? i would expect it to come out within the next couple months as urban 7 was just released, but there are a lot of vinylmations coming out in august with d23 and the stores/dstreet/online. i haven't even heard rumors of what would be in the park 7 set

Awwww I like the shiny. But they're using more and more clear parts, and I love that even more than shiny! (old molds looked nice shiny too, methinks. Pirate Helmsman, for one. IMO.)

I think the artists are more than capeable of designing a great looking figure on the new mold. But as Jack Sparrow shows us, they're also more than capeable of ignoring the mold completely and assuming all designs will look great on in.

Here's hoping they give us a good design. If they can, maybe more people will like the new mold (at least the well-designed ones.)

Has the topic been relatively beaten to death, yes. But it's a big thing in the community right now, and I think it's perfectly fine to bring up as long as it's relevant to the topic.

For me, the designs for Park 7 look great, new mold or old mold. I would prefer old over new of course, but I buy Park series for the Park designs, so this series delivers. So far, I'm seeing nostalgia in Millenium Celebration, and current references to the parks. I'm a WDW person so this set looks perfect so far. My $0.02.

I actually agree with JTChief on this one. I think because it's the new mold lots of people will not like it right away. I think CLY and the I <3 NY gave the new mold a bad rap. Robots looks amazing on it and from the pictures I've seen of Pirates those look good too. People also just don't like change but if there are good series on it so far then I find no reason for people not to like it

However, I expect we will either just get a plain expression little tailor, or kissy face, since we've been seeing that one pretty prominently.

I'm not trying to make this thread about the mold, but it is becomming Irrelevant to most topics related to new released series, due to the fact that going forward ALL of the new relaeases will be on the new mold. For people to just make a comment that they hate it because it is on the new mold just puts a damper on the topic. Since it is still early in the transition stage it can be expected tha there is still some resistance, but this time next year I hope everyone will have moved on.

Opinions on the mold itself are welcome to be expressed in the new mold/old mold thread. It has lost its relevance everywhere else because we have had several sets since the announcement of the change. Any further debate on this matter in general discussion threads only serves to cause divisions and fights.

I'm sorry for the role I played earlier in mentioning the debate. It would be nice if we can just keep this thread on the Park 7 series discussion.

Yup. They also do them for Animation (simba) and the popular Sorcerer Mickey was a park topper, as was Plane Crazy I think?
