I like the crying baby, the sun, sundae, eagle, and the sideways mickey. The sideways mickey for some reason is described as peek-a-boo hair...whatever that means :shrug:

But they're not that great just ok looking to me.

I don't think that user saw the full design for the sideways Mickey, to be honest!! lol I'm not sure about this series, either... I really like the sundae and the bee, but I'm not completely sold on the series as a whole. Who knows, it might be one of those things that'll grow on me after some time, though!

... Anybody else think the zipper looks a bit like bondage? No? Okay, forget I said anything.:lol:

Hmmmm. After 3D Mickey and Paint Drip, I was expecting the chaser to be super awesome. From what I can see, it's kind of disappointing.

I would agree, there tends to be very few good series of these. Most of the vinyls are just okay looking to me, only a very few stand out.

My guess is that we will most likely not see these varients. From the looks of it my guess is they were probably just vinyls they created to test out designs :)
If we do see varient, it will most likely just be one :)

The clear one looks to be a variant of the 3rd one on the second row - looks like an emoticon
The red/white/blue is a variant of the 2nd one on the top row
The lt. blue/white is a variant of the last one on the bottom row

My guess is that we will most likely not see these varients. From the looks of it my guess is they were probably just vinyls they created to test out designs :)

I've always liked the Urban sets... I know, I know... I'm in the minority here, but hey I think they are kind of fun! lol Don't get me wrong I LOVE the the Park and other series as well, but the Urban designs still make their way into my collections. :)

RM, I'm with you on the variants - I think we'll see them. Maybe a Disney push to make the Urban designs more appealing with the more rare variants?

Could be a Gryphon. Honestly, when I saw it in person I hardly paid any attention to it because I thought Urbans have become such huge let downs as a whole. I made a note as "Eagle (Chaser)", but you might be right. I didn't look too closely. :lol:

I know what you mean about alot of the pieces in the urban series being a let down. I'm actually not complaining though, it's really helped me to limit how many I actually get. :thumbsup:

as with all sets there are a few i like in this set. i like the queen bee for sure! (that's my wifeys nickname.haha) the sundae looks interesting and maybe the sideways Mickey and the "Griffin" chaser...as far as the variants...umm pass..i can't wait to see these in person at the local stores..

That's a pretty disappointing set for me. I find it ironic that someone mentioned that they could skip this set like they could skip cutesters. These Urbans remind me more of cutesters than anything else. I always found the urban's pretty hip. These do not seem hip in any way shape or form. I'll wait for a clearer picture, but this looks like a set where I'll want a few, but not too many. *shrug* At least this will save me money while I keep investing in park 1 ;)

I've always been a HUGE fan of the Urbans. in fact i have more Urbans then any other series of vinyls, but im so disappointed i dont know what to do :( I will say however there is NO WAY I will be blind boxing this series.

I feel the same way as most - I'm not all that impressed with this series. I'm thinking I'll skip the blind boxing on these and will trade for the few that I want - sundae, cactus, bee. And for some reason, the green thumb is slightly disturbing to me.

I'm disappointed with this series as well. I know there aren't many people who love the Urbans, but I usually do.

The thing is, the first time that I see the preview of a new Urban series, I'm usually really really excited about at least 4 of them! This time, I have to look at them over & over & over again just to "sort of like" a few.

Most likely, I will probably get the bee & sundae (because they remind me of the Cutesters) and the baby & sumo. I might get the sidewards Mickey but I'd have to see the whole thing first before deciding. Who knows, I might just wait until they're out for awhile & try to trade for them at the parks if I happen to see them in the box.

I do really like the 9" gumball machine.

This Urban 6 series is quite a disappointment, and I'm sorry to say that I feel a TON of these will be put in the trade boxes, so no need to buy blinds. And if that Eagle is the Chaser...I'm in even more disappointed because it does not measure up to Paint Drip and 3D. Not quite a great successor!

Yeah, it is hard to tell what exactly the green thumb one has going for it, but I think a lot of people will be glad not to see the gear bears in this one. Or, maybe an artist should have taken the gear bears to another level and completely reinvent them to make them more appealing.

so i was on the events page on the official vinylmation blog and noticed something in the background. not only did i notice the bacon 9", nerds and mystery vinylmation pin set and figures that were only released about a month ago ( in the nerds case, last week) i noticed urban 6!

heres a pic of urban 6; for those interested its in events section of the official disney vinylmation blog, 2nd to last video. i recognized the urban 6 by the green thumb (front row/right) and zipper (back row/left) from the pictures in the Trade City USA update. and check out the blue thumb variant and blue spiral variant next to the case...

Am I the only one who noticed that there is not a single Gear Bear? Well thats a relief even some gear bears are cute :lol:, sadly those two empty slots are filled by the stupid green thumb and spirograph... What happened to Urban!? It used to be actually something worth buying like El Super Raton, Upside Down Mickey, Mickey Cartoon, Confetti, Chocolate Bar, Super Mouse, 3D Mickey, Paint-Drip Mickey, stuff that was actually still kind've related to Disney. Its not that hard to design something as awesome as Urban 1, what are the artists doing now? NOBODY wants a green thumb or a weird circle thing with an arrow pointing up and down, so why are they adding these designs to the series? Park is getting better and better, Urban is just going DOWN hill... :doh:

I agree with you, There are a few in there but so far nothing thats a must have. I guess we'll have to wait until we get a better look at them to really decide.

I can confirm 3-18 for the DISNEY STORE release date at least... no word if they will be out sooner at DTD or if this is going to be a systemwide release. Of course, my contact could be wrong and the DTD release could be the 18th.

Either way, I think I am pretty confident that someone, somewhere, will be able to buy these on the 18th.

A Disney Store communication we received yesterday! Disney Stores will be receiving them in shipment within the next two weeks and are instructed to hold them backstage until their global release date of 3/18.

I think that the Sumo will be the only one I'll be purchasing from this set. I use to get all the urban's but now that they're on to series 6 I just don't think I'm going to collect everything like before. Kind of agree with a lot of the other comments, Urban has gone downhill a bit in my opinion but it's still fun to see the designs artists come up with.

actually when you go to their website, their urban 6 link takes you to park 6. . i'm assuming it was a link mistake on their part since both urban 6 and park 6 go to park 6.

Up until now, the Urban series have been my favorite. I am distinctly unimpressed with this one. Now, I have to decide if I want to be an Urban completionist and get it anyway or skip this one. I had been planning on at least getting all the park and urban series....decisions, decisions.

The point is is that instead of saying something "sucks" or is "junk", you should explain why you don't like it and what you'd do to improve it. Pointing out that something "sucks" doesn't tell the artist anything, it is just rude.

So glad this is $11.95. And while the topper is sold out at DS.com, it'll be plentiful. But, the topper is still $24.95, which makes the yellow toned Mickey much more expensive than the brown ones.

Actually it's a griffin, griffon, or gryphon depending on what spelling you want to use. It's a mythological creature that has the head, wings and front feet of an eagle and the body of a lion.

I have a problem with these variants. I really like the concept because it can add to the character portrayal such was the case with Pinocchio and the elephants. Now when they have two different variants for the texting one just with different colors, it makes me angry because it literally brings nothing to the table. There is absolutely no significance to them and therefore, I don't care to have them.

I got the crying baby, the green thumb, the sundae & the flowers. I'm not usually a huge fan of Urban, I like some but not most of all past sets... but this set there isn't a single one I don't care for at all. Yeah Urban 6!

I'm not a fan of any of these really. The cactus is kinda cool, and the chaser looks great (even though it ESPECIALLY seems out of place in the urbans...) but other than that i'm mostly confused. Who wants a crying baby? Or a gross nasty thumb?

I am interested to know if Disney has released names. For that matter, does anyone know *why* Disney is naming vinyls on and off now?

Well, I meant random in that I have no idea if it's supposed to represent something and the patterns on there don't really add up. The whole is not greater than the sum of its parts. The other ones are at least clearly identifiable as to what they are.

actually it depends on the specific series

park 5 and urban 5 were 12.95, while urban 6 is 11.95. the prices keep fluctuating.

I wished they'd just stick at a price point, honestly 9.95 is a good price for the vinyls. The changing of the prices only makes people wishy-washy on buying the VMs.

The prices being all over the place makes it very hard to budget for them as well. It's not like you can just go out to get a blindbox anymore, you'll have to do a little research and choose before you're even at the store, and make sure you have enough dough.

Course, that's only for us poor peoples. ;) Admittedly, if I'm ever in the parks, money suddenly seems to become no object. :look: But at least if I'm just at a DS, I keep a budget in mind. :P

I agree with you diehard, on the fact that it is a lot less urban'ish than previous series. The Sunny Day and Cactus could most certainly fit into a cutesters series more than urban, the others are very hodge podge at best. It seems like there are a lot of variants being found, but that may also have to do with the fact that there are 3 in this series that have variants, I don't know, just a thought.

Even if I can afford to pay a dollar or two more doesn't mean that I'm willing just on principle. I will definitely scale back on VMs if the price goes up, most likely turning to evilbay for the ones I really want rather than blindboxing until I get them.

The series has gotten more random too, IMO. There are usually one or two per set that I like, but not one in this case. For example, I usually just get Urbans through trading locally, but I just discovered the Heartbroken VM and LOVE it! It's my new favorite (non-Nightmare Before Christmas, anyway).

Maybe in a weird way, having so many random VMs on the market will make people love the ones they love even more? I dig my Nightmare and Pirates and Halloween ones more seeing all the recent lackluster Urbans, Occupations, Parks and Good Luck/Bad Lucks. That's my $.02

Look at pins. Every time you walk into a pin store ti's wall to wall pins. There's something for everyone, and chances are you'll find something you like enough to buy.

Was this the Michigan Ave store? I was at the State st. one this morning and pulled the first two boxes - one of which was the chaser. I was so happy ( Out of some 70 vinyls I've only blind boxed two chasers now). It's always interesting to see the difference between the two stores in terms of stock and sales.

Which store has a better VM selection? I am closer to the State Street location.

Every time I go in, I look at them and I'm still not blown away by them. The only ones I'd want if I had to get is the ice cream sundae and the griffin, and I have HORRIBLE luck so the prices are definitely scaring me off at this moment!

The gryphon reminds me of the hippogryph from Harry Potter. And since I love harry potter I'm going to consider the chaser to be a hippogryph! :)
