You really have convinced me to book a cruise. LOVE all the pics! How was the food in the restaurants? Seems like most of it in all the restaurants is on the fancy side. And do they have kid menus available, because I have no clue what my son would eat off some of those menus.

 YAY!

The food is great. It's fancy...but not really  When it comes down to it, it's meat (or whatever else you pick) And I'm picky with food and I rarely have issues with the entrees on cruises. I rarely get appetizers or salad because I just can't eat that much  And the bread is usually amazing.

Yep, they do have kids menus available. Now what's on them, I have no idea. Probably the usual mac and cheese, hamburgers, hot dog, chicken, etc.

I've been on the Wonder 3 times, Magic 2 times and two Carnival cruises.

I can't really rate the cruise as a whole since it was only two-nights and it was preview/shake down/practice cruise.

But I will say, it was amazingggggg

Disney is great because they don't nickle and dime you for everything little thing like the other lines do. And while it may seem like DCL is more expensive, you've got to remember that majority of things are included, you're partially paying for the name and there's no casino to off-set the costs.

I don't even consider cruise on any other lines :)

Great pics HHGF! It's really convincing me to go on a cruise, lol. I've never been on a cruise, well, unless you count a dinner cruise, lol. My wife has been on a cruise and she has told me all the great stuff that goes on but she has never been to a Disney cruise and when we drove down to Port Canaveral to see the Disney Dream, she really wants to go. So, hopefully after we buy a house, we'll save enough for a Disney cruise.

I was on the same preview cruise, and yes, the water was freezing. Got in and got right back out. Luckily the day we were in Castaway Cay was the only day with nice sunny weather (water still cold though), and sure enough as we started to head back to the ship it got cloudy and cold again. My fiance and I waited in the line for AquaDuck for about forty freezing minutes. Luckily the water in the slide itself is warm.

All that said, the ship really was gorgeous. They went all out with little gifts and whatnot. The rooms were nice and big (for a cruise ship) and the veranda was pretty spacious too.

ouch! We ended up with 5. I had one that I actually drank some of, my parents had 3 and then :look: I swiped another off the counter. Oh and I got a christening one from Pink. The bartender asked if we had gotten any and brought one out for us. We also got one of the empty bottles too

Now just have to track down one from the maiden voyage (and travel agent cruise, if they had special glasses) and I'll have a complete set :D

If you don't mind answering, where was your room located? I'm considering booking a surprise cruise for my wife for Summer 2012 for her 30th Birthday! I think I want to get a verandah room so we can get some fresh air. But the other rooms are cheaper so I'm still trying to decide!

I'm really jealous and I really like the wine glass. I wish I knew someone that went so they can get me one.
And, as much as I want one, it broke my heart when I saw one for sale in eBay for $125.

Well, now I'm seeing a lot more of the wine glasses for sale at $70. Yeah, I figure that's going to happen. Oh well, that's business. Anyone has a spare that would like to give or sell for a resonable price? LoL.

Ours was Deck 7 Forward. Honestly, while the room was great, I wouldn't suggest the a forward stateroom. I could feel the movement of the ship a lot more than mid or aft. And it wasn't exactly what I'd consider rough out. Well...it was extremely windy so that was probably why

Verandas are great, but really you spend so little time in your stateroom, it's just as easy to go up to deck 11 to the open deck.

From your pics it doesn't look like the ship was anywhere near capacity. Do you know how full it was?

I'm really curious to find out if with the increased size in ship and passenger count if Disney did a good job with upgrading Cast Away Cay and everything else to accomadate everyone.

It was about half full. The only time when the extra amount of people was really an issue was debarkment. When the line to go through customs was ridiculous.

And actually, a good amount of my pictures were taken while we were at Castaway, aka why it looks empty since majority of the people were on the island. I can't really say about CC since, honestly we didn't spend much time there.

Yeah, on Friday night it was in the middle of The District, and out til at least midnight. However, the personal navigator for the day states that it ran til 11:45. Either way, I know the Dream is supposed to be offering midnight buffets in this area on its regular voyages as well.

Ahhh okay. I saw it, but it was like hot dogs and such.

Plus that's only for 18+, so there's no midnight buffet for kids.

We were on Deck 7 :) I have no idea what category we were. Especially since they've changed them all. No it wasn't weird, it's just like every other room we've ever had on a Disney ship  (well, except for the suite of course)

I've never heard of the sitting area being before the bed.

I've never heard of the sitting area being before the bed.

The sitting area comes before the bed on the "side ways" rooms that are parallel with the ship.

Thanks for the info! I guess I will find out how I like it! I just think it is going to entice my two 10 year olds to sit on my bed with wet bathing suits and throw all their junk on it! Guess we are going to have to lay down the rules early on!! ha!

I've been on the Wonder 3 times, Magic 2 times and two Carnival cruises.

I can't really rate the cruise as a whole since it was only two-nights and it was preview/shake down/practice cruise.

But I will say, it was amazingggggg

Thanks for these amazing photos! How does it compare with Wonder and Magic? I'm thinking about going on a cruise sometimes next year but it's been difficult deciding which route/ship to go on.
Disney Dream looks SO awesome and the itinerary seems fun too, but it'd be cheaper for us to go on the Mexican Riviera cruise (we live on the west coast). Is it wrong of me to favor Dream over Wonder and Magic?

Just back from the Maiden Voyage, AMAZING :)

They had Maiden Voyage Glasses. So I think there are 4 Christening, Boys & Girls, Magical Preview and the Maiden Voyage

They also had surprises releases of #2 - 3" Vinylmation Set called NIGHT AND DAY!!!!! Comes in the same type of packaging as the Admiral Donald and does have a Jr :)

Dooney Burke Inaugural Purses
and
SHAG Surprise Pin Release

Great weather, the pictures you took are great and in person you all will LOVE IT!!!!! It was
worth waiting for :)

No it's not. But the Magic and Wonder are still great! They still have great staff and the same great disney stuff. And it'll be more intimate since it's smaller.

And the rooms are still bigger on the Magic and Wonder :look:

Also on the Wonder, DCL has adjusted the itinerary a little. From what we understand they are not going into Mazatlan anymore and I think they are staying at Cabo longer due to the change.

If you have never cruised with Disney before now is the time :) You could always try it out on the Mexican Riveira and rebook while you are onboard (they usually have a great rebking offer when you sail) for the Dream. This way you will save on air and you can see if you like it. The Dream is beyond awesome, it does 3 and 4 night sailings - it took over the Wonders itinerary.
There were some good rates on the Dream for the beginning of December 2011 still.

Yep, that's true. Instead they're going back to Cabo for another day.

 OMG - Truly amazing.

Thanks HHGF for the pictures. Looking at them makes me even more anxious to take my first cruise. I don't know if I can wait until 2013.

You? What about me? Can you imagine what the wait is like with my ADHD? I'm the one who finally convinced you to give it a chance. Now dad and I just need to get you to agree to the right room.

Great pics HHFG. The food pics were my favorite. The weather didn't look all the great or that might be the pics.

No, sadly that was the weather. It was very overcast the first day and the afternoon of Castaway is was as well.

I'm not a cruise person myself, but I think these pics just convinced me. I have a little fear of being trapped in the ocean, but looking at these pics I'm not sure I'll ever think of the ocean. My wife will be glad to know she no longer has to beg me to go on a cruise. Thanks for the pics!
