White Bear, Orange Bear, Purple Bear, and Pink Gears aren't all more of those Gear Bears like the ones in Urban 2, are they? Those aren't some of my favorites, unfortunately... :yawn:

If Squares was originally in Urban 2, have pictures ever been posted of it or it didn't get to that point?

White Bear is hard to describe. It almost looks like he is crying blood and has a bloody heart. Very different looking than other things I've seen.

The Orange and Purple are what you'd expect and the Pink Gears is totally different than the others.

That's actually why it was originally replaced, but they have gotten much better with the production since then it seems.

The best in this series is definitely the Moai Statue. Might be hard to translate to vinyl though.

Tin Mickey and Peeking Eyes sound interesting.

Peeking Eyes reminds me a little bit of Who's There, but the eyes on the head are bigger, and there are eyes on the body and ears.

Tin Mickey is basically exactly how it sounds. Mostly all great but with what looks like a red heart on his chest.

I have to admit I'm a little disappointed there are more "bears" in this series... I could be fine with one and one new unique figure. At least the Park Series aren't doing too many of the repeated designs.

Tin Mickey sounds pretty cool and I've liked the squares design too since it was first posted here.

The stripes would be hot rod flames if you lay the vinyl on it's side. The flames are vertical.

Oh, good! I actually like the pink/black Gear Bear, and was hoping to see that one show up again since it got pushed out of Urban 3!

Also--Walk/Don't Walk looks a lot more fun and interesting than I imagined it would. I still don't know that I'm willing to pay $75 for it, but it is neater than I'd imagined...

I'm still on the fence with them. For me it is when I start seeing the actual samples as the artwork can sometimes change from the concept to what it turns out to be on the vinyl. I love the flames concept, not sure yet about the walk/don't walk and the Moai ones yet.

Honestly my thought is that they took that idea from Sledge. Steven and Quyhn were super nice and let Sledge take front, back and feet shots of all of the Urban 4 and Park 4 designs at the Trading Night. I was laughing when they updated the blog that night with a front and back shot of them all. I guess they are still learning from the master!! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm sure that this is already mentioned but Scott's "Blocks" design seems to be a nod to Piet Mondrian's painting, "Composition with red, yellow blue and black" (1921)

Right now it looks like Park 4 in March, then Toy Story in June, Star Wars and Urban 4 in August, Holiday 2 in September, and Nightmare Before Christmas in October. Somewhere in betwen would be the open edition series of Big Eyes and Oh Mickey!, and any other special sets or releases. It looks like maybe they are ending up being more spread out then initially thought. And my thought is the ending of the year with Park 5?

FWIW, the Urban 4 pins are scheduled to be released on April 29th in WDW. $16.95 for a box of two. Official pin site says nothing about DL's release date, however.

The chaser is blacked out in the pics, but it is in the series. So, once the pins go on sale, we'll know what the Chaser is. Thought I'd give everyone the heads up. Sorry if it's already been mentioned.

As someone who majored in Art History in college, the Mondrian-inspired design is a must-have for me. Since I'm not really into the other designs, I guess I'll have to wait to buy this one from eBay or elsewhere, like I did with Little Dragon. I'm more of a Park Series fan, but every now and then an Urban one catches my interest. Thomas Scott did a great job with this one!

Generally the Urban series have not been as popular as the park series but I gotta say this series is pretty cool and Some of the 9"ers may be hard to get.

Thus far, all of the 9"ers have gone up for sale at the Parks before being listed on DisneyStore.com. (With the exception of Tiki Room, obviously.) It's usually several days/weeks before the 9"ers are sold online after they are released in the parks.

I know, I kinda agree about that Pink Gear. Its really a never ending battle.
Urban 4 gets pushed back which falls in the TS release, which gets pushed back into the DL series and SW release, and then into Park 5 and Holiday 2 and so on etc....

The LE numbers have not been released lately before the sets come out. The numbers for Urban 3 9" were announced, but when they actually turned up in the parks the early-announced numbers turned out to be totally wrong. The Park 4 9" numbers were not pre-announced at all, and were not revealed until people had them in-hand. And even then, the numbers on the boxes for some of them were wrong. :lol:

I wouldn't worry TOO much about the Urban 4 9"ers, however. Even though Urban 3 was released nearly 6 months ago, I hear most all of the Urban 3 9"ers are somewhat readily available in the Parks.

So despite the rumors, I really don't think this is coming out this weekend. Which is good and bad news in my opinion. Bad news because I still want a release date, but good news because I wanted to put another order into disneystore.com so now I might be able to! :lol:

It's tough to say for sure without knowing the LE number, but I would say it probably will be on DisneyStore.com and also be available for some time in the parks. People anticipated the Snow Monsters set being super-rare and the first shipment sold out instantly in the parks. But pretty soon, there were Snow Monsters everywhere and it's still pretty common even now. I think what it comes down to is that there aren't NEARLY as many people who will plunk down 75 bucks for a design like Snow Monsters as will for characters like Pooh, Sully, or Test Track.

I like and want Walk/Don't Walk as well, but I don't think it will be a big problem or instant permanent sell-out.

People anticipated the Snow Monsters set being super-rare and the first shipment sold out instantly in the parks. But pretty soon, there were Snow Monsters everywhere and it's still pretty common even now. I think what it comes down to is that there aren't NEARLY as many people who will plunk down 75 bucks for a design like Snow Monsters as will for characters like Pooh, Sully, or Test Track.

I like and want Walk/Don't Walk as well, but I don't think it will be a big problem or instant permanent sell-out.

Yeah, I hope your right- I think it will be more popular than snow monsters, but I'm hoping it won't be too hard to find. :)

Appreciate the pictures. I had just wanted a few, but seeing them in non-display/proto-type form... Darn it, I want almost all of them! :( I thought Urban 1 was great, but don't want to pursue more than a few of them (3-4, tops). Urban 2 has 2 designs I love (Chinese Writings and Mickey Cartoon) and a couple I like (Confetti, Cosmos), and Urban 3 has 3 designs I love (Watermelon, Cursive, Palm Trees). In comparison to 2 and 3, Urban 4 is fabulous. The only ones I don't want are: Heartbroken (too creepy for me), Super Mouse (just odd), Big Teeth (really odd), and the dreaded gray/dark blue/lime green gear bear. I LOVE the other ones, which is not good for my wallet. Sigh.

Agreed on the far lefthand Gear Bear. That is seriously the ugliest looking vinyl I have seen to date. They need to lay off the Gears. I have yet to read of a single person liking more than one or two, and usually that liking is tenuous at best. I do really love the hot pink gears bear though. That turned out well, I think. Love the colors. And that's the only time I will ever utter the words "love" and "gear bear" in the same sentence. :lol:

On a different note, I'm completely disappointed with Flames. The yellow is more of a green on the top half, leading me to believe that they rushed this and somehow paint didn't dry or something. The coloring of the flames is a little sloppy too.

If I get a chance tomorrow I'll take some close-up pics of what I'm talking about. Hopefully this isn't the case for all of the Flames produced. :cry:

That's awful! :( I didn't have that bad of paint jobs, but I have noticed the quality of urban 4 not in tip top shape. There's one paint drip on my dripping mickey that shouldn't be there (but at least it blends in with the concept) and I was looking at my tin mickey today, and it has a spot on the back of his heads, and chips on his feet and ears. I mean, they aren't too drastic, so I can live with them, but I agree that something is not up to standards with the quality of this set. I don't mind blind boxing and getting a design I don't like. But I do mind blind boxing a design I do like, and being disappointed with its quality >_<

I haven't had any problems with the 3" yet, but my Yelling 9" has a slight problem where the lighter red paint from the body seemed smudged onto the top of the darker red paint on the feet. I don't mind as it's barely noticeable, and I love the vinyl nonetheless, but I was surprised to noticed such a defect.

Please don't, totally out of their control, in fact I was wondering what all the fuss was about until I got it out of the box. This is just me letting other potential buyers know about the level of QC that these figures received, ..or should I say, quite apparently didn't !

Couldn't agree more w/ WebBetty, I just received mine and was anxious to see the quality after all I've been hearing... WOW, what a disappointment :puke:

There's not a color or side of this figure that doesn't have multiple visible flaws or hasn't been retouched in some way, ...and very poorly I might add. :nono:

Seriously, this is the first figure I've gotten that I feel was in no way worth what I paid for it.. and that was only retail + tax and shipping!!

My advice would be to stay away, and if you don't (gotta get 'em all!! :lol:), then leave it in the box ! I would put mine back in myself but I don't have the room to display a lot of them in boxes and I wouldn't feel right trading this to another member... this one's going in the back that's for sure.

Now I'm thinking maybe this should have been posted on the rant thread :rofl:

Definitely not a fan of the quality of these! In my honest opinion the only one out of the three that were released that had better quality than the others was Pink Gears!

Flames looked terrible, Walk, Don't Walk looked okay but the nose and face were all messed up! If they had raised the prices of the 9/3 I wouldn't have bought it simply becuase the quality is soooo bad! I sat at D-Street searching through every box to find the best and they all had some issue!

Like WebBetty said, the top flames look more yellowish green, but when my hubby and I were looking closer at it, started to wonder if perhaps it was possible that the yellow and blue coloring on the vinyl kind of mixed in that area causing the greenish coloring :shrug: Also the white area right below the flames on the bottom of the head is poorly done as well.

Honestly if I would have seen all this in person prior to purchasing I'm not sure if I would have still gotten it, but that just wasn't possible. Thank you though to the kind member on here who was willing to help me out though, I still appreciate you for that ;-)

I ordered a set of Urban 4's online (3"). And I'm not keen with the quality two. Bad painting, spots. But because I have 2 of everything one set was perfect except for my CHASER!!!!! After 15 mails with Disneystore I got a perfect chaser. My own chaser had loos paint (like loose paint in the sun) and scratches. But now I have a good one.
Off Topic: Toy Story quality is perfect, I think this was a one time problem.

Went to d-street today wdwr and they are out of urban 4 3"ers. Other stores in the marketplace had them but d-street is currently out. I'm sure they will be restocked by tomorrow. We will see.

I did a little research. Doesn't mean it's why but maybe the artist knew. In a true yellow blue flame there is a part of the flame that is a shade of green. Just thought I'd throw it out there. I also love my YB flames 9". :-)

So here's my story. I bought all 17 knowing there weren't all out of the same tray. I ended up with FOUR Tin Mouse, FIVE Urban #4 Purple Gears, THREE Strawberry Fields, THREE Blackouts, a Yellowed Splatter... AND Paint Drip Mickey. I got the chaser on the SECOND to last box. I was about to have a heart attack if I bought all those and only ended up with a TON of extras. It made my day worthwhile.

On top of that, super slow day at the outlet malls, so they let me trade several times with the mystery box and ended up COMPLETING the set sans Super Mouse. So in the end, I bought 17 blind boxes, ended up with a near complete set, no duplicates, and a few to take home from other sets. An incredibly productive day.

Finding that paint drip makes it all worth it. It really is one of the coolest chasers out there.
As far as knowing when they will stop producing them, thats just anybodys guess.
I have not seen any at my local Disney Stores.

Maybe some of the locals can let everyone know if they are still plentiful at the parks.

I ended up with FOUR Tin Mouse, FIVE Urban #4 Purple Gears, THREE Strawberry Fields, THREE Blackouts, a Yellowed Splatter... AND Paint Drip Mickey. I got the chaser on the SECOND to last box. I was about to have a heart attack if I bought all those and only ended up with a TON of extras. It made my day worthwhile.

On top of that, super slow day at the outlet malls, so they let me trade several times with the mystery box and ended up COMPLETING the set sans Super Mouse. So in the end, I bought 17 blind boxes, ended up with a near complete set, no duplicates, and a few to take home from other sets. An incredibly productive day.

Now that I'm done with my story, does anyone know when this set will be retired/sold out? Or have they stopped production on it already?

I just bought a case of this series that way if it retires I can say I have it lol. The scarcity of certain series are starting to get to me so I had to stock up on it lol.

I think this is my favorite Urban series by far. The designs are fun. However, the only place I've been able to find it is on DS.com.... Are any stores still stocking this series?

I ended up buying a case at D-Street while I was at DLR, at my wife's request ;) She figured it was better than buying blind boxes and not getting what I wanted. It's really my favorite series I saw at the park I love Paint-drip Mickey & Super Mouse :)

I did the same thing (order a case from ds.com). There are a ton of keepers from this series and I really wanted the set. If I'm unable to unload the other 12 figures, I figured I could come close to breaking even as opposed to piecing it together from ebay.

I love this set, and pieced them together through trades and blind boxes. I hope this set doesn't go through the whole people stocking up too much of them, especially employees with the discounts. This was the series that got me into vinyls, and I have a special spot for these guys.

Is this series even at DisneyLand anymore because I could've sworn I saw some but I'm starting to worry since all the vinyls from this series is increasing in price... I mean I already have Strawberry Fields, Paint-Drip, and Super Mouse but I still need Tin Mickey! It's crazy Super Mouse just went for $45, Paint-Drip just went for $160!!! Then someone put it on buy it now for $105 then someone bought in less than 5 minutes... It's crazy... good thing I got mine for $35 a few months ago :lol:

I'm not close to the parks, but I was in DLR last month and I saw full cases of urban 4 in several stores. They weren't available at every location I went to, but there was still plenty from what I saw :)

i was just wondering but is the super mouse or the might mouse vinyl based off of another character..or is it just supposed to be a super hero mickey mouse?? cuz i love how that one looks!

I did a trade and got a few of these. Nothing on my want list, but I posted them elsewhere as trades and people went nuts. I have the super mickey, and people are crazy for him. I also had a tin mickey which I already traded for a conductor pete. I traded a four eyes for a Mr. Toad. I just hope years from now I'm not kicking myself for not keeping these.

I own Super Mouse and Tin Mickey and I just have to say they are some of the best Urbans yet. I hope Urban 10 goes back to the way this series looked. They should have more superhero themed mickeys. Tin Mickey reminds me of Like an Iron Man Mickey and Super Mouse of course reminds me of Batman. Still disappointed we haven't seen any Urban Minnie or Donald. They could easily sell out Urbans again if they give the public what they want. I mean come on look at Urban 9, Maori Businessman? No thank you.
