In trying to see just how rare the Ghost varaint is, let us know which chaser you have in your possesion? Regular or Ghost Variant?

To clarify my point, if someone buys two trays to get the variant, they need to be able to vote twice for the poll to be close to accurate.

If you were commenting on the smiley count in the post, it seems smileys are always a competition here.

There is. I've seen the checkmark box polls where you can choose more than one option. I guess it must be an option when you first make the poll? I dunno, I've never made one. Thanks for keeping the first post updated!! :)

I've said all along that I believe each new series is being released with 4 different case arrangements. In a normal series, like Park 5/Urban 5, they can use those arrangements to switch the chaser around to ensure they are pretty random in the box.

In the new series, like Animation, each of the four arrangements has it's own chaser... so with that theory, every box that has the variant Pinnochio will have the SAME chaser. (For example the boxes I've seen that have Clear Pink Elephants do NOT have the variant.)

If that holds true, than I imagine, since Steven Miller said the Ghost ObiWan IS more rare than the regular Obi Wan...

and I imagine that means they are 1:96... otherwise, 1 in 4 cases.

It doesn't mess the math up, but it does make me wonder what chasers other people got the variant pinnochios with. It could be that there are more than 4 cases, or that the variants aren't aligned with the chasers like I thought they would be.

My brother (who isn't on VN...yet!) just bought a case today and got Ghost Obi. He told me that a CM at DStreet said the super chaser is 1 in every 10 cases...no idea if there's any truth to that, but thought I'd share what he heard.

Just got home from DLR D-Street. While waiting in line one of the first people in line opened their tray right there and had a Ghost. I was about 75 people back and got a ghost too. Now the hunt for a regular obi-wan chaser is on!

My GF forced me to go wait in line at 6am. I really wanted this set but I wanted to sleep in but I heeded her advice and ended up getting the ghost Obi. I jumped like a little kid. With al the members getting multiple chaser. it is tough to keep this accurate. But it looks like the Regular/Ghost ratio is about 3:1.
So if this hold s ture, your odds at getting a Ghost is 1 per 4 cases or 1 per 96 blind boxes. And the Regular is 3 per 96 or 1:32.

For voting purposes I went with regular Obi. You can tack on Ghost obi in your count for her.

Well here's how it all breaks down, for those of you who are stat freaks. By sheer logic, it can't be every other case because that would be make the Super Chaser and the regular chaser available at the same ratio. So the MINIMUM is 1 out of every 3rd case, which of course is only speculation at this point (but your poll seems to be about there). So using every 3rd case, it comes out to 1/72 or 1.4% of all Star Wars vinyls currently out there (another number we won't ever know). If it's one out of every 4th case, it comes out to 1/96 or 1%...so we're really splitting hairs on the odds, either way it is pretty low. Compared to all regular chasers which are at 4%. Interesting stuff!

So I bit the bullet and got two cases - one the day they came out (not at midnight), and then one about a week later...I was gonna put a sealed case away and keep it for like 20 years, but that darn ghost chaser fever forced me to open both (damn you, Disney!). Case one was the regular Obi, and that second case, totally random since it was a week later, had the ghost! I was pumped...and to think, I almost told the guy I wanted a different case when he pulled it from the stack behind the counter, because the plastic shrink wrap was torn off a little in the corner. That concerned me that it might have been tampered with or damaged in transit, but I looked closely and the shrink wrap was tight everywhere else, the box undamaged...so I said to myself, it's fine, maybe it's a sign because many people would ask for another, maybe someone even turned this one back in when they saw it...call it a hunch. BAM - Ghost! So as long as it comes from behind the counter, from now one I will take the one with the slightly torn shrink wrap!

I actually think $200 is somewhat resonable. If you think a regular chaser can go for $45 -$60 on ebay and if the ratio is about 1 in every 3 boxes. Wouldn't it be safe to say the value could equal 3 regualr chasers which would range from $130 -$200 depending on how greedy the seller is Hahaha. I have the ghost obi-wan and I was lucky since I only bought one case that day and got it signed. So mine is pricesless and would probably never sell it.

I paid $240 for Park 1 Balloon Chaser. Its the most I ever spent on a single VM. But well worth it. Hahaha

Poll stats seem to indicate that the Ghost is 1 out of every 4 chasers, was wondering if it was 1 out of 3 or 1 out of 4. If a regular chaser is $50X4 scarcity factor, it says the Ghost should go for NO LESS than $200. Of course the laws of supply & demand have more influence on pricing than anything else...

I got the regular chaser when buying a full 12-unit set from a member here on VN. I would love to get the Ghost Chaser, but the prices are STILL ridiculous. While the Buy It Now's have dropped into the $200's on eBay, people are still paying in the $300's for them. The signed ones going for $400 and up, which is crazy. Hard to believe this brand new variant is selling for more than the Balloon Chaser or Pooh and Piglet combo. I did notice that some lucky(?) buyer just got a Ghost Chaser on eBay for $175 'best offer' the other day. That's good news for everyone, because it shows that maybe enough of these are finally starting to come out that it will drive the prices down. I don't think I'm every going to pay over $200 for one of these. I'm hoping to one day find one for $100-$125. I hoping that will be the sweet spot until the cases are discontinued.

So, today I was feeling a little down. I bought two cases of Star Wars on release day. I opened one on release day and got my set with regular Obi chaser, which I was really happy for. I traded / sold away the rest of the case. Fast forwarding to recent days, I've had the urge and drive to everything in my power to get an Obi Ghost Chaser. I've been watching ebay prices slowly rise and the decline of Obi chasers mentioned in VN.net's buy / sell / trade forum. If it was mentioned in the b/s/t forum it was for trades only and for vinyl's that were also hard to get ahold of. With that said, I opened up my second case and got the elusive Obi Ghost Chaser! Opening the Ghost brightened up the start of my week!

P.S. For those who do have the Obi Ghost, do you have any bubbles noticed within the body?

Looking at the results of the poll so far, 65% for Reg and 35% for Ghost, those aren't bad odds. 1 out of 3 cases is a chance for the Super Variant, I was thinking the number would have been 1 out of 5 cases or greater.

Has anyone tried to document the rarity of all these variants?

My case came with the reg. obi-wan. My husband wanted one so badIended up buying one from a fellow vinylnation member.. It turned out to be very good buy.. My husband was so happy to get it but when my daughter saw it she want one aslo. We ended up blind boxing 9 reg chasers and on the tenth one we pulled she finnally got hers. Now we have over 8complete sets, which is pretty lucky as we only purcahsd 1 case, all the other were blind box purchases.

Further, our poll numbers don't bear it out, but then we only represent a small community of collectors, so it's hard to call the poll statistically significant, but the word from CMs (all CMs, which leads me to expect they were told by management) is that Ghost Obi Wan is one out of every ten trays. :shrug:

I bought a case of Star Wars yesterday and sure enough, the first box I open from the case was GHOST OBI-WAN!!! IT WAS MY 100TH VINYLMATION TOO! :happy: Then since I also wanted regular obi I picked up 3 blind boxes from two different cases, and I got two regular Obi-Wans and another R2D2, so I got My ghost obi signed and one of my regular Obi's signed along with C3PO and R2D2 since I already have Darth Vader signed :happy:

i heard they were sold out now...but anyways i bought my first ever tray last saturday at DLR and was just hoping that i didn't get a messed up case (not a complete set) cuz i have heard stories.. i was totally gonna be satisfied with a reg obi cuz i actually like it a "wee" bit more than the ghost...but when i opened my boxes i found the ghost chaser!!! and i was soooo happy and going crazy!! then i went back to DLR later that day for some trading and ended up buying 5+ more blind boxes..and i got regular obi wan in one of the blind boxes!!! such a great day last saturday!! :)

When it was originally released in January 2011 the odds were 1 in 4 cases of getting a ghost obi wan.

Therefore the odds of getting:

- a normal chaser is 3/96
- a ghost obi wan is 1/96
- a stormtrooper vinyl (filler) is 12/96
- any other one of the other 10 is 80/96 or 8/96 each figure
