So I was super excited a few years back when rumors started spreading about Rock 'N' Roller Coaster possibly coming to California Adventures in the old Millionaire and Super Star Limo buildings. But sadly it didn't make the cut and we have Monsters Inc instead! :( So I pose this question to you, for those that have been on it, seen videos of it, really want to ride it, or just want to talk about it.....
Would you like to see Rock 'N' Roller Coaster in Disney's California Adventures?

yes, if it replaces another people mover ride then I am all for it... only downside though is the line for monster inc is usually no wait, but the line for rockn roller coaster is like 2 hours.

Yeah I know! It got as high as 185 when I was in Florida, I was shocked! But its totally worth it! :)

I say no. I would like something more original and would like another dark ride or a small coaster to fill the millionaire building

I wouldn't be opposed to it but I'm not a huge coaster fan, so I would rather see something completely new as well.
If they had put in Tokyo's version of the Monster's Inc ride that would have been awesome.

Heck no. I hate clones, the parks need to be unique and RNRC is one thing that makes DHS really unique. DCA has some great stuff of their own and some great stuff coming but they don't need anymore E tickets, they need more A, B, and C tickets like dark rides, walk throughs, shows, and exhibits, and work on atmosphere and theming to tie the park together, especially in the Hollywood Backlot area. RNRC would be a huge departure from the direction that park is going in and would be a huge step backwards. The ride was innovative in the 90's when it came out but its time to move on and do new things. I would however love it if they gave Screamin' a new soundtrack, enhanced queue, and full backstory.

And also, with the Hollywood Pictures Backlot soon becoming "Hollywoodland". This attraction would not fit the theme.

I agree, even if disney did something like the Mummy from universal studios. They could tell a story through the ride. CA adventures needs more E ticket rides. If you want other types of rides go to disneyland.

While I agree someone who wants more roller coasters should go to a non-Disney park I do also think that it really wouldn't hurt Disney to invest in another roller coaster or E-Ticket attraction in California Adventures. Disney does need to focus on younger children (which they are doing with Carsland and the Little Mermaid) as well as keeping the excitement and thrills that the park already possesses. California Adventures provides the great story telling, exquisite detail and overall lasting memories that Disneyland has but gives the Disneyland Resort a semi-needed twist of thrills and excitement that can compete with those theme parks like Six Flags, Knotts Berry Farm, etc all while doing it in true Disney fashion. :)

I hardly think Carsland and Mermaid are focusing only on younger children. Those are exactly the kind of attractions that make Disney great. Fully immersive experiences. A lot of large scale work is going into theming Mermaid as a classic aquarium to fit the time period and setting of Paradise Pier, huge animatronics are being built and are supposedly more life like than ever, Carsland will provide a high speed thrill ride and two unique smaller rides, the land will recreate an entire landscape from a film including lifesized rockwork and neon lit buildings. That's the kind of stuff Disney needs to be doing, not just cloning a coaster that won't fit the park AT ALL. They can do far better than RNRC (which has nothing to do with California, is dated, and belongs in DHS to make that park special) and I think the park is going in the perfect direction. They are doing amazing things and to go back to roller coasters for the sake of roller coasters would be exactly what made the park fail in the first place. And Disney doesn't need to compete with those parks, Disney already attracts far more visitors anyway.

Very true! I just feel like Disneyland is the original and the best and is the park everyone compares California Adventures too and tries to get it to be like when really they are two completely different parks! I really think California Adventures is more of a park for an older theme park goer, while there are rides of the younger one, it just has always felt like that type of park to me! :)

Hahahahaha nice! I definitely do agree about different rides at different parks to attract visitors but this is one of those rides that I wish was at Disneyland. Its like my version of Thunder Mountain, or Space Mountain, almost every Disney park has one even though they vary a little they still attract people.

How's this for an idea, a roller coaster similar to rockin roller coaster, but keep the Monsters Inc theme and base it off of the scene where Mike, Sully, and Boo are flying through the network of doors

I've thought about that but I don't know how well that would work! I always thought that kind of a ride would be cool with a Primeval Whirl kind of ride at Animal Kingdom! :)

I say no to Rock-N-Roller Coaster at DCA. Like people said above, if they need another coaster, it should be original and should fit in with the theming of DCA.
It isn't exactly a "classic" like HM, Jungle Cruise or Soarin' that belongs on both coasts. It is a good coaster ... with Aerosmith music?! Not very "Disney" actually ...

This is a great topic! Can't wait to dive in.
The Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Park are pretty notorious for recycling attractions from there West-side counterparts. So I find it suitable for the Rockin' Rollercoaster to find a home in DCA (like Tower of Terror). In fact, I find the Hollywood Park to be a waist of admission Rockin' Rollercoaster is the only ride there that isn't already in California that I'd like to go on. It's the only one! (Keep in mind this is just my opinion, don't get in-furious and passionate with me please :) )
Magic Kingdom has a few more attractions then DL but overall is a similar experience imho. You just walk further to get to each attraction. A park that I have fallen in love with at WDW is Animal Kingdom though. That park rules and delivers! It's Unique on every level!
But back on topic... I wouldn't mind Rockin' Rollercoaster over here because then I could just avoid Hollywood Park all together and save my money and time for Another Disney Park at WDW. If regular Floridians get to go to WDW and say "I don't need to go to DL because we got everything we need here" I wouldn't mind being able to say the same at least about one of their parks. It's not an unfair request if you think constructively about it.
Now more then Rockin' Rollercoaster in DCA I'd rather see a brand new attraction in DL's Tomorrow land. It's seriously lacking over there. That innoventions puts me into a snooze, and as much as I grew up loving Captain EO, I wouldn't mind seeing something newer from another park or brand new all together. *Ahem* Mission Space anyone?

I'd rather not see RRC at DCA. I think we already have a great coaster in Screamin' that already has RRC's launch opening. As much as I enjoy riding RRC whenever I go to DHS, I'd rather have TDA come up with a new idea than copy what has already been done before.
Ever since I've watched the door chase in Monster's Inc., I always wondered how cool it would be to have a ride/coaster based on that scene. So IMO, leave RRC in Florida, and if there is to be a coaster in DCA to replace the Monsters Inc. dark ride, make it original.

back in 2004 when I wrked there, we heard rumors we were suppose to get it in DCA but IDK its been a while but we also found out about Mermaid being built in DCA back in 2004 too and that just came to light this year so who knows what the future holds. we heard it was going to be built in the old Millionaire building into the what is now Monsters inc but Disney changes things so fast its hard to keep up. I would love to get Rock n Roller Coaster here !! That would be amazing.

I would rather they put something new in.
If they were dead set on RNRC at DCA I would hope they would at least try to make it a little different. Use a different band and maybe a different launch since Screamin' already has the same launch there.

They could rotate the cars to launch backwards.

They could rotate the cars to launch backwards.
They could truly simulate LA rush hour traffic and have it start and stop several times. Accelerate to 90 then slam on the brakes. And then when you stop a motorcycle could fly by so close that if you have your arm outside the vehicle you lose it.
Nevermind. I have a feeling the legal department would have some issues with all the potential whiplash cases.;-)

:agree: Disneyland and DCA are true "Theme Parks" If you want a "Thrill Ride Amusement Park" go to Six Flags
You can still have a Thrill Rides in a theme park, look at Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Matterhorn, Big Thunder Mountain, all thrill rides and all located inside Disneyland park. I think the problem with DCA is the simple fact that instead of coming up with new innovating ride systems they just bought stuff off the shelf, if you're going to do that make sure the theme is so immersive you don't realize that it is just another ride that you can find at any other theme park in the country.

I voted absolutely NO! There is no need to have a ride so drastically similar to California Screamin'. Honestly - for a coaster I think Screamin' is more fun to begin with.
For those hopefuls dreaming about Rock 'n' Roller Coaster replacing Monsters, Inc. - Mike and Sulley to the Rescue, I can pretty much assure you it wouldn't fit in that spot. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster's main building where the gravity portion of the ride track may not be very huge, but there's a looooong section of track that houses the launch and brake run areas making it a much larger footprint.

I have rode both coasters...Rock N' Roller Coaster is very good, but California Screamin' is definitely better (and a longer ride). So you can add Rock N' Roller Coaster but do NOT take away California Screamin'!

A decent observation above - California Screamin' is actually the longest looping roller coaster in the entire world! Kind of an interesting fun fact - one that I'm REALLY surprised Disney does not play up in any way. It's a legit world record they could brag about.

I totally agree. They should bring Rock 'N Roller Coaster to DCA. Although, I have a solution. When I went on my trip to Disneyland in Jan. 2012, I was about to go on the Monsters Inc. ride. Before we entered, a Cast Member told us to go to a empty building up ahead to meet Monsters Inc characters. I believe it was called Stage 13 or 14. I went inside and the building was HUGE. I thought what attraction could be in this room if they had to put one more attraction in. I thought for a moment and thought Rock 'N Roller Coaster!
