I am all excited about this upcoming game that will be on in a few minutes, we have our leader Tom Brady back at the helm, and a much younger defense which I am really interested to see. Also, They are celebrating their 50th season for the American Football League, which both the Patriots and Bills where part of. I have been waiting all weekend and since last year for this time to come again...Good luck to everyone and their own teams they are cheering for, but I will always be a "Pats" or how everybody else wants us Bostonians to say "Patz" fan...

Uh oh its West Coast/East Coast Football Rivalry time haha. Never been a fan of the team being from the WC, but I do admit the team has got talent no doubt. But personally the Chargers and Eagles are my team :D

I am always up for some rivalries, the only real hated rivalry for me is the New York teams...Bostonians are not huge fans of New Yorkers...I think the chargers have a pretty good team, but they seem to always be plagued with injuries same thing for philly for most part...Although they did make it to NFC finals what was it four or five times? One team I was impressed with seeing yesterday was New Orleans Saints (I am sure HT_NSU and BigAl will post on this) LOL

Yeah Im not a fan of any NY teams personally but It was cool to see them win. The Saints are cool also, but I never see them play unless its against a California team :(

We should just title this thread '2009 NFL Season' so everyone can share their love for their favorite team and all that jazz. Is that ok with you guys?

That works for me!!! I didn't think too much about the title before I posted :)

Uh Oh, As pirates of the caribbean says "there are stormy seas ahead" here in New England...Mayo hurt, and losing 7-0

Yeah great idea to change the title :D

Well, Not too happy about how they played the game, but a 'W' is a 'W' I guess especially when your playing divisional opponents. The defense looked young at times sometimes being too aggressive, and also just giving up too many yards here and there basically eating away the clock...I do like some of the aggressiveness though and hitting. I still couldn't believe that Tom Brady completed 39 out of 53 (73.6%) and threw for 380 yards or so...His throws didn't have that tight spin on them, looked a little behind or a little off at times, and even welker and moss who had pretty good games looks a little rusty out there. I guess those are the growing pains when your quarterback goes out with a knee injury. Knowing their coaching staff and team philosophy I am sure they will work out the kinks over time...Thank goodness they didn't play New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Tennessee or San Deigo today...

Oh No! Regarding your team being shutout during the first week, although the Rams did have some good years with the greatest show on turf. Hopefully, They can start bringing their franchise back around again in the next few years. We are enjoying our current success during the Belicheck at the helm, they have done a great job so far rotating out personal and bringing in new talent from the front office to the players on the field. A little worried on the defensive end this year as we are really young but lets see how things go, all-in-all I expected the shaky start on offense with everybody not looking in sync...Will take a few games to get things going.

Thats awesome, I don't think American Football has been too big of a thing over there and over the last few years I know the NFL has really wanted to start pushing it more internationally. Hope your excited to see the game...The funny thing is my family is from New England (Bred and Born for most part), and my uncle loves New England teams but now lives in Tampa...I am sure he would love being there and I am sure he will watch this game. Thankfully, We have the next week off as a bye after this game, although the flight and time difference is more of a drag on west coast teams than us on the east coast. Enjoy this game it should be a fun one to watch...

The organ refs striped uniforms where pretty cool, I don't even remember seeing them at all way back when during like espn re-runs or videos. Although, If I could buy one someone may mistake me as an inmate instead of a referee LOL :rofl::rofl:

No it isn't a big thing over here, soccer (what we call football) is definitely the big winner here. But I've been to the international games for the past 2 years and really enjoyed them. The Saints game last year was amazing and by far the best I've seen.

The NFL have messed up on the TV rights this year though. We've got 4 different TV stations carrying the games - SKY, ESPN, Channel 5 and the BBC. I don't know the ins and outs but I think we're going to be missing out on some games as no one is showing them. Amusingly there is a teeny European country that is showing more games than we're getting in the UK (so my housemate tells me).

We do get some special merch though, I'm collecting little teddy bears with "International series 200x" on little t-shirts, and last year everyone got saints flags.

This has been a weird season so far. There have been a lot of mis-matches. Detroit used to be the only team every year with only 1 or 2 wins. Now they have St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, KC and Tennessee to compete with.

I gotta say though, it was fun watching the Pats and Bucs play in London this week, even if it was a blowout.

-clings to the final weeks of baseball season-

I personally hate football, mostly because once it starts it's 'football, football, football' and everyone seems to forget that baseball is headed into the most important time of the year

butttttttt....If I had to pick team, I root for the Jets and detest the Patriots.

:pet:...and that is the creepiest smiley ever.

Baseball season tests the players to be able to play for that long.

And it's America's Pasttime!!!!

It is. I'm one of those that hate all Boston Sports, but since I'm completely clueless when it comes to Football I cant pick fights with Patriot fans like I can with Red Sox fans...

They can play for that long because they can nap on the field between action. It's INCREDIBLY BORING TO WATCH ON TV.

And it's America's Pasttime!!!! It hasn't been America's true pasttime for at least 20 years...but no one wants to say it.

With football there is almost constant drama, unless there is a rout. I realize with baseball its the similar. The NFL is like playoffs all season because every game is huge. Also the game is like chess, where strategy is key.

Its good to detest the Patriots.

I get a big kick out of watching people hate the Patriots. We had the crappiest NFL team for 30 years. When we made the Superbowls against Chicago and Green Bay, people in New England kept scratching their heads saying "How the hell'd they do that?" and then watched them promptly get destroyed in both contests.

As a kid, I once bet with my uncle 6 weeks in a row that the Patriots would lose and I won every single week.

And then one day Drew Bledsoe, our only hope of ever winning anything, gets injured and a random backup QB named Tom Brady takes over...

So if there's anyone you should detest it should be Mo Lewis and the NY Jets. If it wasn't for him taking out Bledsoe with a cheap shot, we'd still be losing. And you can detest Oakland too for giving us Randy Moss for practically nothing because nobody else wanted him.
