So i was in the parks yesterday and i had done a fast pass for space mountain. The standby wait time was only about 30 minutes so it wasn't exactly crowded and crazy. We get up to the front and line up for our seats and one of the CMs starts yelling to " check your stakcs" or something like that. The guy was yelling like he was super angry. Then he was yelling for everyone to seat as quickly as possible. Was just kinda odd. So our turn comes up my wife walks through the gate to sit down and I'm right behind her and as i walk through the gates they close on my leg. Was kind of an odd thing to suddenly have my leg grabbed by the gates.
Just wondering if anyone else has been in a situation like this where the CMs are rushing big time.

the space mountain sleds are all synchronized to the second. if they take too long to load guest into the sleds and push 'em off then the safety protocols will take into effect and stop the entire ride so the sleds coming in won't hit the sleds in the loading dock. that's the main reason they rush everyone into their seats. the ride relies a lot on gravity to get the sleds to where they are so they have a short window time when they can seat riders into their places.

this is another reason why the handicapped use a separate train and when they are ready the switch them on to the track.

Wow. We have never had any problems like that, but then again we rush to our seats so we can get going.

Wow, I've never noticed being rushed into that ride, but now reading about why it makes a lot of sense. I'll try and pay attention to that next time

I was there a couple of weeks ago and a young kid took too long to get out of the ride and they had to shut it down. THe CM's tried to rush him out but they didn't succeed. As a result they could not start the ride up until all the sleds were in.

This happened to me :P I'm not sure if the little gate thingys are timed or what but the CMs were like "hurry through the gate please, hurry" and so my gf goes through and i'm about to step into the seat and the little gate closes on my right leg, it freakin hurt, as soon as i felt it on my leg i moved it out of instinct and still got pinched a little, it didnt seem like those things were like friendly elevators where if theres something inbetween the doors they wont shut, that little gate wanted my leg for itself..

We just had the ride shut down on us the other day because people that were ahead of us were to large and did not get out of the way in time ...

Had a similar experience on Pinnochio. My little 2 year old niece started freaking out the second we sat down and the girl running the ride got really flustered trying to get us off of the ride. Lol, gotta love Disneyland with little kids. Funner than any ride sometimes.

I do have one problem with the ride at Space Mountain they made it to small for those that are over 6'7" tall as with most of the rides in the park .....

Over 6'7" ? You must have problems with fitting in most things, my friend.

Interesting, I have never experienced anything like that, it is always smooth sailing for me.

I thought this thread was gonna be about how one side of the ride has some daylight streaming in through the windows, because that's what I noticed when I was there the other day.... Totally ruins it.
