Theres rumors that if the new TRON: Legacy does good that they will be updating Tomorrowland to match the Futuristic/Cyber World of TRON. Has anyone heard anything about this? Or have any opinions? YAY or NAY?

I would like it PERSONALLY, because I love retro TRON and the new one looks good as well. Also, having just been there this weekend, the "futuristic" tomorrowland is start to look a little outdated. Some sort of refresh would be a good idea.

BUT It would only would make sense if it does REALLY well, and a sequel does pretty good as well, to make tron an ongoing thing.

I'm not a fan of Disney messing with classic attractions to promote their movies, but at this point Tommorowland is in such desperate need of updating. If this is the only idea they can come up with, I don't care.

well there already really confident in the new TRON since it already has a sequel in the works and elecTRONifca over in DCA is staying till April wayyyy past it beig in theaters. I do think it would be an awesome look to tomorrowland but hey thats just me. If youve been to DCA's elecTONica you can definitely see the potenial to retheme a land in that style. It would be awesome to keep on playing at FLYNNS lol. But there is also talk of taking out Innoventions and putting in something TRON related to justify the switch. I for one hopes they do something! Also Rumors of Rocket Rods coming back as Light Cycles. After all of that you can definitly see potential.

The only rumor I have heard related to this is the replacement of the Peoplemover with lightcycles! :)

I was super excited when I heard they might bring the lightcycles but I have a feeling that it wont be any faster than the Tomorrowland Transit Authority in Walt Disney World! :(

honestly, this would be a welcome change. i think the color scheming would work, and dlr's tomorrowland is definitely showing its age.

I definitely wouldn't mind them updating the people mover or another ride or two with a bit of tron (I know absolutely nothing about the movie and probably won't watch either the old or new version) but I would hate to see Tomorrowland become Tronland. So as long as that doesn't happen, I'm okay with the changes

Hahahaha I might actually take Tronland over Pixarland! Apparently the new rumored replacement for Captain EO will be a carbon copied Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Comedy Club from Walt Disney World! :puke: :puke: I want something non-pixarish!

Ack, no! I like their idea of having pixar in California Adventure- why can't they just keep it at that??  How about no tronland or pixarland and just make the imagineers think up something else that will improve tomorrowland? :D

Hahahaha I totally wish it was that simply! But remember most everything is driven by revenue, so if pixar is going to make money Tomorrowland will become Pixarland!

Aw, did you have to remind me of the reality of Disney? :tap: I just wanted to sprinkle a little pixiedust here and there and tomorrowland would be as good as new! :pixiedust:

Honestly, even if they made it back to how it was when it first opened, I imagine it would be an improvement. Tho I do like star trader! :D (when I go to disneyland it's usually more about the shops than the rides anyway )

Oh well, guess we'll just have to see what Disney does :pout:

I know I know! I hate being reminded of it too! Hopefully with this whole problem with the Astro Orbiter it will speed up the Tomorrowland refurb! :)

Yeah it looks like its bad enough where its definitely closed for a while and might actually speed up the process of redoing Tomorrowland since its rumored to get moved back to the center of Tomorrowland!

Well truth be told I'm not too sad about astro orbiter being closed for a while, and anything that makes them give attention to tomorrowland's needs is good in my book. I just hope it all works out for the better! :pixiedust:

I know, I was kind of excited when I heard that from multiple people! It makes me kind of happy that it might get a remodel in the future! :)

I wouldnt mind seeing it as tronified. But i would hate to see things go away, kind of like how they are currently covering up those two Mary Blair murals with the star speeder/space station walls...

:agree: Exactly how I feel.

I'll even add that if Tron saves the wasted space that has become Innovations, it would be a very welcome change.

Oh, I totally remember that mural. Very sad to see it go.

That's what's hard about when Disney changes things. Obviously Tomorrowland needs updating, but I don't want to see such an overhaul that the charming parts are knocked out as well. Disney has had a very bad habit as of late with "improving" things and ruining them at the same time. :pout:

Eww...how is Monsters Inc futuristic? :look: If anything of all the Pixar movies Wall-e is the most futuristic, and I have no idea how you'd turn that into an attraction. Maybe we all don fat suits as robots come serve us our food ;-)

It would be cool if Tomorrowland were split into 2 themes. One being an true land of "tomorrow" with rides and attractions that are futuristic by 21st century standards, and the second could be a retro look of how the "future" looked back in the day. Kind of like a history of the future. That way we can incorporate some of the amazing art work, like Mary Blair's mural. (Did any of that make any sense?)

Well I guess Monsters Inc. is futuristic because Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom has it! Other than that its really not, I would just like to see Tomorrowland returned to its original glory! I think a Wall-E attraction similar to the Forbidden Journey at the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter be installed in Tomorrowland but there just isnt enough space! :(

I would love to see anything new and exciting happen to Tomorrowland. Although I'd be happier if tron was just one piece of a big update. Tron looks like it could be a good property to go with, but it doesn't exactly have to do with "tomorrow" per say... more of computers. I guess there is a faint connection to tomorrow but I'd like to see a tomorrowland that connects with Walt's vision of "The land of the promise of things to come" not aliens and spaceships. Yes, new space technology is to come, but connecting aliens and buzz lightyear to it is really pushing it.

I think they should just continue letting TL go to trash so it can become Wall-E themed :)

Good topic,
Tomorrowland is yesterdayland IMO.
Innovations is now extinct. All the rides are gone except space mountain. Mission to Mars, the people mover, the rockets that are now in front of tomorrowland.
A Tron theme does not mean "Tron" it means the lights, the atmosphere, the environment. The old people mover had an original Tron segment.
But really think about it, Tomorrowland has been redone twice since I remember so the nostalgia is almost gone. There are three rides in the whole area. I think moving the rockets back as a hub and opening up the light cycle track would be a start. But I would be happy with the start or renovating it to A Tron theme.

I wouldn't mind a hint of tron, but redoing the entire land would be a little much
