BREAKING MUPPET NEWS
Today at the Disney23 (D23) Expo in Anaheim, CA, The Muppets' own Lyelle Breier was on hand to present the crowd with a huge update on The Muppets recent outings and their incredibly exciting future outings!
It started out with Lyelle showing off Muppets.com and talking about the constant updates. She also highlighted A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa DVD release coming in just over two weeks.
Then the real news started to pour in. Since I only saw brief Twitter updates about all of these, I'll just be listing the exciting new things coming out of Muppets Studio this year!


* A brand new online Muppet cooking show with TV chef Cat Cora. (Presumably on Muppets.com.) Coming THIS Fall.
More Muppet YouTube videos to hit the web in 2010. Including Muppet versions of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," Kansas' "Dust in the Wind," and "Stand By Me."
Muppet Halloween Special slated for next year.
The Muppets will appear on Andrea Boccelli's Christmas special THIS Christmas on PBS.
Muppet*Vision 3D in Walt Disney World and Disneyland will be receiving an overhaul in Disney Digital 3D. Currently billed as Muppet*Vision 3D Remastered.
Steiff plush of Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Fozzie coming soon.
New line of Muppet merchandise coming to the Disney Store.
More Muppet TV cameos and appearances coming next year.
Muppet iPhone applications planned for 2010. Applications include, "Pepe's Love Meter," "Animal's Drum Set," "Gonzo Grams," and a movie application featuring Statler and Waldorf.
Statler and Waldorf will be writing a book due out next year.
Studio DC: Almost Live! on DVD in 2010.
The Muppet Show: Season 4 on DVD in 2010. Gonzo will be on the cover.
"Mobile Electric Mayhem Band" coming to Disney parks as part of Disney's "Living Character Initiative."
New line of Muppet merchandise launches next year. Macy's is rumored to be the new licensing partner.
The Muppet Whatnot Workshop will have branches in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. New Whatnots with facial hair and "monster fur" are expected.

Along with all of this incredibly exciting news, Sam Eagle appeared at the end of the presentation but was interrupted by Gonzo, Fozzie, and Pepe on video screen. The three of them then went on to do a meet and greet with the fans at D23.

Definitely super-excited about all the Muppet additions. Jim Hill (http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/archive/2009/09/11/d23-expo-presentation-to-reveal-what-muppets-have-planned-for-2010-beyond.aspx) had a pretty good article on Friday about some other things we can expect globally from the Muppets, basically reiterating the D23 press conference.

I read on there a few weeks ago that part of the reason Disney took so long to get the Muppet ball rolling is because they had to wait for all of the Jim Hensen contracts made with other companies to lapse. (This was being compared to what Disney will have to do in order to get Marvel characters into the parks). Either way...

This is all great news! It's about time! It feels like we've heard rumors forever of a bigger Muppets presence in the parks, whether it be the Great Muppet Movie Ride or the rumored Muppet puppet show replacing Sounds Dangerous. None of this is as good as either of those but at least we are seeing the Muppets getting some serious attention! I'm really excited about the remastering of Muppetvision 3-D. That will be great. I'm also really excited about the Electric Mayhem Band appearing in the parks. That's just plain awesome!

Was at the outlets a few weeks ago and they actually had a black Animal shirt. I had to pick it up! I hear that they are testing new Muppets shirts for kids right now to see how they sell.

The Electric Meyham travelling around the park sounds like a great idea. If they can make this interactive like say Turtle Talk with Crush, this is going to be a huge hit!

My husband saw the Muppets Mobile Lab with Beaker and Bunsen at Epcot last fall, and said it was simply AWESOME. He's very excited for the Electric Mayhem version (although he said he doesn't understand why they can't do both!). He said actually seeing the technology in action is unbelievable.

Im looking forward to the Electric Mayhem Bus. If Disney ever lost or ended its partnership with Aerosmith, they should retheme and change it to the Elecric Mayhem. It would so fit in there. Hopefully the movie is good.

I got season two on sale from Best Buy a few weeks ago...need to get the rest. The episode with Elton John had a sketch that was Rolf and Fozzie at the piano playing together. It was a very simple sketch that I was :rofl: at. REally simple, but really effective. I didn't remember that sketch at all from when I was little. (Of course that could be because it was made about five years before I was born :lol: )

I saw this was bumped. And saw the additional youtube videos in 2010, I saw a a couple they did in 2009 , but i finally saw The Muppets: Bohemian Rhapsody(video below), Oh my word that was to good ROFL. I love the youtube videos, especially Beaker in Ode To Joy. As for the muppets mobile lab we were lucky enough to see this in epcot a couple years back, I have a couple of good pictures of it, I'll have to find them and upload them on here.

With all the advancements in 3-D recently, I thought it was a no brainer to update the Muppet's 3-D technology and update the quality of the video too. I can't wait until they add the new show! It's also fun to see Kermit & Miss Piggy during the Volunteer Parade @ Magic Kingdom too. It's a good thing that Disney is bringing the Muppets to the forefront again.
