These guys look great. Only a few "must haves" on my list, thankfully (Captain Peg Leg Pete, Peter Pan, Pinocchio & Aladdin). Who is that underneath Pinocchio? I can't fully make put my finger who it is. Captain Peg Leg Pete is my favorite out of all them. He'll go great with a Steamboat Willie figure, when they finally decide to do one. Still think they should have done a 9"/3" combo of those two guys.

That's what I was thinking too. IMO, if they went with Princess & the Frog, they should have done Ray!

And I'd figure they would do Maleficent as the chaser. Kind of surprised not to see Captain Hook or Jafar in there, since they're part of that main Villians team for Halloween. They'd go awesome with Peter Pan & Aladdin in the Animation series. Thought they'd be a shoe in to included in the first series. Next time, hopefully.

Wow kind of a big sneak peak! I was very much looking forward to the animation series but is it just me or some them look a bit strange, proportions wise - yeah I know it's difficult but I'm sure there could have been different ways of fitting the characters on. The only ones from that set I must have are... Dodger, Mushu, Phil and Simba. However the villian series is great! I lpretty much like them all.. although why choose Kaa over Shere Kahn? But the design is very cleaver, so Kaa, Captain Peg Leg Pete, Prince John, Banzai, Ursula, Shan Yu, Snow White Witch possibly Governor Ratcliffe are must haves.

I wonder what the chasers will be?:idea:

I really think Maleficent is going to be the chaser since it wasn't the witch from Snow White or Peg Leg Pete. She is a very popular/prominent villain so I can hardly see them leaving her out :thumbsup:

These previews are so exciting- thanks Aurelio! :happy: There aren't a lot of must haves for me, but I'm definitely impressed with most of the designs :) I do agree with you tho, Dozy, in that some of the Animation designs come off a little weird to me. Why would they use a teal color to fill in the rest of Marie's ears? I wish that when they don't use the whole ears for the design that instead of using white or any other color they would just make them clear. And I think Pinocchio's face is adorable, but I don't really know what to make of what they did with his ears :lol: Overall tho, I'm really excited! :)

Pete from Steamboat Willie is my favorite of all of them. While I'm confused that he isn't the chaser, I'm really happy he isn't since it might make him a little easier to find :)

I wonder if Simba isn't the chaser, maybe Steamboat Willie will be for the Animation series? Part of me hopes he isn't since it will make it harder to get him :lol:

Oh I agree that they need to make more than one villian series! Scar is one that immediately comes to mind that they should include in the second series, and maleficent if she's not the chaser. Ok, so I was trying to translate a bit of the page. Some of the words (the Kanji) I recognize and are similar to Chinese...

In this first page in the red circle it says something about mid December (12th month middle). While in the blue circle, if I'm reading this correctly, it says this is the 5th series? Maybe they mean this is only the 5th series to be released in Japan so far? Since they've had HAL, Toy Story, NBC and Urban 5 now?

The second picture is very similar, in the purple circle it says something about late December (12th month bottom), and in the pink circle it says something about it being the 6th series. Also, the part are the chasers, it just says 11 designs + 4 desgins.

When someone says villains, the first one I think of is Maleficent. I was disappointed that she's supposedly not in this set :cry:, but I agree with Story. If they could work dragon Maleficent into chaser, I would be quite happy. The chaser could have her on one side and the dragon on the back. :idea:

Variants sounds like what the old Marvel Legends chasers used to be like, I'm all for that, makes it interesting now that there will be different levels of chasers.

-The Villains is the 5th series and The Animation is the 6th series for us.
-We don't have a exact release date now.
-The Villains is scheduled to be released in the middle of December.
-The Animation is scheduled to be released in the late December.
-The Villains: 1 chaser, The Animation: 4 chasers

This does seem like a smart strategy on Disney's part because just the mention on Variants makes me want to buy more blind boxes for the chance at a chaser or variant being pulled. :lol:

The good news is that aside from the Cutesters Too Chaser (which has the two Chaser designs as total opposites), most of the variants as so similar that it isn't worth trying to chase them down. In the Animation Series #1 the Chaser has slightly different color schemes, but not something I would consider worth having one of each of.

I'm not exactly sure how the cases will be packaged. I'm sure you'll still get all 12 designs like usual, but it would be nice if instead of a filler (3 of one design) if they gave us a variant design instead. Again, I haven't heard either way how cases will be packaged once the series with variants start arriving.

I'm going to say it right now: I hate how most humans transfer to the VM figure. In most cases, it just looks strange. Sometimes, it works out (i.e. Buzz) but Alice looks really strange, and Peter Pan and Aladin could be better. :/

I think it increases the chances of forgeries and counterfeits. It honestly kinda concerns me.

I think both series look really cool! I don't think I'll be getting any of the villains though since I'm not a fan but the designs look neat. My favorites in the animation series are the frog, Marie, Alice, and Peter Pan. Oh, who am I kidding, they are all pretty sweet. LOL. I'm with you on this one. I usually just don't like how humans transfer to VMs. I think I might still get Peter Pan because I like how they were creative with the ear space and put Tink there, but he isn't a "must have". But yeah, humans and vinylmations usually don't mix :lol:


I think I figured out what is wrong with Aladdin & Peter Pan. The size of their eyes are off which makes them look wonky.

Definitely- Aladdin's look very small. Plus, I think I would have liked him in his Prince Ali getup more. His normal shirt (or partly lack thereof) just looks... weird as a vinylmation :look: It could just be me tho :lol:

I really love these designs!!! They are really colorful & I think the designs look better than alot of the previous sets.

That being said, I don't see as many as "must haves" as I thought I would. When I first heard about the Animation series, I was really excited to see the designs & which characters would be included. I thought I would end up buying a tray, but now I only have a few "must haves" which include Marie, Pinocchio, Aladdin, Fairy Godmother, and Quasimodo!!! I'm also considering Dodger & Mushi but probably won't get them. I'm a little disappointed because I absolutely LOOOOVE Alice in Wonderland & Peter Pan...but I don't like either Vinylmation design. I'll probably only get them if I see them in a trade box next trip to the parks. I don't like any of their "ears" except for maybe Dodger, Mushi & Quasimodo's. (I'm not trying to insult the artists, they are extremely talented!!! As I said, I love the use of color & think these designs are better than alot of past series.)

As for the Villians series, I have been talking about Villians for over a year...so I am very very excited for this series!!!! I know alot of us on VN have thought it would be an amazing idea & I am so glad Disney decided to make them!!! I'll be extremely disappointed if Malificient & Jafar end up being 9" designs because I don't collect the 9"s and don't have any room to display them! I know they'll end up making a Villians 2 series because I think this series will be very popular & there are also alot more Villians they could include! I LOOOOOVE the designs for Ursula, Old Hag, Cruella, Kaa, Madame Mim, Stromboli, & Gov Radcliffe! I think this series is very colorful & much better designed than the Animation series. I love this set & love all the designs, but most likely I'll probably only get Ursula, Cruella, and Stromboli. I might possibly end up with the others that I've mentioned but only if these are released around the time of my next trip to Disney and I see them in the trading boxes.

Has Simba been confirmed for the Combo Pack? Are they going to start releasing Combo Packs for sets other than just Park & Urban? I was looking forward to the Lion King designs, but I am not thrilled with Banzai. I can see him in the face of the design, it looks EXACTLY like him. I love the detail of his face...but I'm not sure I like the body part. It just doesn't look like him. I can imagine the artists have an easier time designing some of the Vinyls than others. I think some characters & especially humans are just harder to put onto a Mickey head & body than others!

I'm with you on this one. I usually just don't like how humans transfer to VMs. I think I might still get Peter Pan because I like how they were creative with the ear space and put Tink there, but he isn't a "must have". But yeah, humans and vinylmations usually don't mix :lol:

I love Quasimodo, Phil, Marie, and the wicked queen. They did a great job of adapting those characters to the mickey shape. I probably won't buy any of these as I stick to the Park and Urban series but I love that they made a villain series. I haven't seen much from the Disney villains in quite a while.

One thing that suprises me is how different a lot of the figures look like several different artist created them. I kind of wish they had a more uniform style.

Are these the release dates for only Japan? Will the U.S. date be sometime in January/February 2011? I think I remember reading on another thread that once the vinyls are shipped from the manufacturer, it takes about 6 weeks to reach the United States...so are they shipping them to the U.S. in December sometime? Or are they already here?

=( I didn't get any pins.. but I don't think it's cheaper in Japan. Their 990 Yen so with the current yen rate it's about the same. I think around 12 dollars. But also surprised they were released early in Japan. Very happy though. Did you ever buy vinyls in Japan? I am wondering why this castmember keeps limiting me from buying more.. is that a common thing in all Disney shops? Maybe next time I will just go to Shibuya or TDL Resort. The one I went to was in Akishima...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and be one of the people who love that clear chasr, especially now that I've seen the details on it. Dumbo is a family favorite so I'm going to be looking for all the variants of this chaser (can you picture them surrounding the upcoming Dumbo?) but I think that clear pink is my favorite already!

I've just seen the 9" Elliot the Dragon with 3" Pete, not sure how to load picture but it is on VM.com Blog, says it comes out on the 7th Jan with the other 3" with other 9" in late spring. This is going to be my next 9" and 3" combo after Mad Hatter.

Yay, we're going to go to Dland on the 8th so I'm definitely grabbing the Beast. I'm glad the hippo is coming out late spring so time can help me decide if I want to buy her and also save some money. =)
