I love it, I can't wait to see it!
A high-tech, talking Mickey Mouse character will begin making regular appearances at Disney California Adventure as part of a new show.
This is the first time that the upgraded Mickey character, which has a moving mouth and blinking eyes, will routinely appear in front of visitors at Disneyland Resort. Mickey will play a central role in “Disney Dance Crew” that debuts Friday at California Adventure.

Until now, the talking Mickey has only showed up on a limited basis at the Disneyland Resort.
In May, Disneyland tested out the talking Mickey, who greeted guests by name and had conversations, during meet-and-greet sessions. Read a previous story about the talking Mickey Mouse. Disney California Adventure also used the talking Mickey during the private premiere ceremony of “World of Color” in June. The talking Mickey already performs at Walt Disney World in the “Dream Along with Mickey” show.
While the new Mickey is not expected to greet guests at California Adventure, the character is slated to dance and talk during the show. Fans got a sneak peek of the show, including the talking Mickey, during last month’s Destination D convention by D23, the official Disney fan club. See photo above.
Disney officials declined to discuss the details of the talking Mickey in the new dance show, reluctant to give away any of the “magic.”
“We are introducing and featuring Mickey in a brand new way,” said Randy Wojcik, show director with Walt Disney Parks and Resort’s creative entertainment. “We’re really excited to bring Mickey’s new performance style to guests.”
The new 10-minute “Disney Dance Crew” is inspired by popular T.V. shows, “So You Think You Can Dance” and “America’s Best Dance Crew.” The Disney show is choreographed by Tessandra Chavez of “So You Think You Can Dance” and Dave Scott, who also works on the show and the “Step Up” movies, Wojcik said.
The music will be a fresh arrangements and mash-up of Disney tunes, he said.
The Disney show will feature two dance crews who are competing against each other when they are interrupted by Mickey Mouse, who reveals his own hip moves and brings the two sides together, Wojcik said. “It showcases some really cool, new, hip styles,” Wojcik said.
“Disney Dance Crew” is set for six performances a day, five days a week on the Hollywood Pictures Backlot stage. The dance show will replace “Drawn to the Magic,” which ended last weekend.
The schedule is 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:20 p.m., 3:10 p.m., 4:25 p.m. and 5:15 every day, except Mondays and Tuesdays.

I hope they make sure that Mickey's head is on nice and tight. We wouldn't want him breaking it down and all of a sudden his head goes flying off.

So had a chance to catch a few minutes of this show and meh it was okay but seemed very uninspired! They basically took a lot of Disney songs, hip hopped them up, and made people in their late 20's and early 30s who looked young dance to them! The Mickey was cool but not a fan and definitely wish Drawn to the Magic was still there! Here is the article about it, check the link for the video:
Beginning today, October 22, the Disney Dance Crew will start shaking things up at the Hollywood Backlot Stage in Disney California Adventure park.
Disney Dance Crew is a live, 10-minute performance for the entire family that features contemporary remixes and mash-ups of popular Disney songs, and dancers performing hip, edgy dance moves. The show also includes an appearance from Mickey Mouse like you’ve never seen him before. Mickey shows off slick new threads and some crazy moves.

Boo. I was really hoping it would be cool because DTTM rocked. Easy place to always catch Woody, Mickey and Cindy... plus the one guy in the leather jacket has a stellar voice. Random tidbit but I always liked that show. Plus it's always dead there.

Yeah, hopefully Disney will tweak it! It could be a good show but needs A LOT of work, and its only the first day so maybe the kinks will get ironed out I hope! Ughhh the dancers were so off too which really made me mad!

Saw it in passing... poor kid who was actually 'rapping.' I wonder what his job was before this.
My favorite line... "drink up me gangsters yo ho."
Really Mickey? You gonna bust a cap in someone after the show?
Horrible. I pity the people working Monsters and the Muppets show having to hear that all day.
Inevitably the show will survive because it had 10 times the amount of people there that Drawn to the Magic had at a peak time.

I don't know about surviving, the reviews are getting worse and worse as more people see it! The only thing that they are raving about is the interactive mickey!

I thought that the show was pretty cool... quick show, some dancing, Mickey dancing hip hop... hey Disney tries new things, it's what they do.
Have an open mind... but I can see the old geezers having a fit because it's not the "traditional" Mickey image. (BTW, I'm in my mid-30's, that's old depending how you look at it).

So I love that since this show has been getting terrible feedback Disney decided to do some small reworking! No amount of reworking will help, bring back Drawn to the Magic! :pout:
Some small things they reworked!
-Most of the dialogue seems to have been retooled. The dancers no longer use the hip-hop lingo like "princess."
-The dancers no longer make fun of Mickey's classic outfit.
-Mickey's back is to the audience when he changes outfits.
-They changed the "Yo Ho" lyrics. The song lyric is back to the classic "hearties" and no longer "gangsters."

I will probably never see this show live, but I watched it on YouTube just to see what it was all about. I didn't think it was terrible, but I was appalled at the use of the word 'gangsta' in the song YoHo. It's nice to see I wasn't the only one and they changed it back to "hearties."

Since when is 'princess' a 'hip-hop' term?

Thats what I was thinking! I think in the best interest of everyone Disney should cut its losses and create a new show! :)
