With built-in savings through the packages we offer our guests, we are able to make the Disney family getaway possible even in today’s economy.”

The hotel is in walking distance of the Downtown Disney Marketplace and offers many Walt Disney World Resort perks, such as complimentary transportation every 30 minutes to all Walt Disney World theme parks and guaranteed access and preferred tee times at Walt Disney World golf courses.

Upon completion in this fall, amenities within the hotel will include a heated, zero-entry pool and connected lap pool; a business center with 24-hour access; Kids Eat Free and all-day dining; an on-site Disney retail store; complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access in all public areas and guestrooms; and complimentary parking.

Dang I'm surprised they didn't have one of these already over in the DTD area.

Me too, maybe they did, but it seems they have revamps all the Holiday Inn so maybe it was once there. Nice and affordable and close. Thumbs up!

Me too, although the free internet and free food is tempting. And if it's walking distance to DTD, you could always walk there and catch Disney transportation to the parks.

But like BigAl said, I'd have to stay on property....how could you not?

I know I feel the same way, there is just loads more magic in staying on property.
The only exception was that we stayed at the Gaylord Palms when we went in March and it was fantastic!

There is also a Waldorf Astoria Orlando opening up in that area between Hollywood Studios and Epcot, the opening date for this hotel is October 1st 2009. I didn't see any other posts about this so probably could have started a seperate post, but was surprised when I priced things out that it was cheaper than almost all the Disney Deluxe Resorts. As a hotel snob, I will probably venture over here not during my December 2009 trip, but the next time after that I venture down. Although, The Four Season maybe open by then on WDW property so might have to be there instead. A standard (deluxe) room for Waldorf Astoria, beat every standard room within Disney Deluxes category by about $1000...They also take AAA also which discounts the room a few hundred dollars...

I wonder how both the Waldorf Astoria Orlando and Four Season may affect Disney Deluxe categories, if affect them at all...I have stayed at both resorts in other cities and to be honest they blow away Disney regarding guest services...I was amazed when I stayed at the Four Season Dallas before, just a beautiful place with a nice lazy river pool, and a pro-golf course in back...The rooms where also much larger in size than the Disney Deluxe hotels.

I actually stayed off property a few times, back in high school. I stayed at that crappy Ho-Jo over by Wet & Wild when we went to WDW for choir to perform for the Magic Music Days.

I don't remember the last time I stayed off property.
Maybe when I went with my parents....can't remember that
far back.
I think once you stay at a WDW resort, its kind of hard
to stay away. Unless its something new and you gotta try it.
